I think he just made a strict comparison of college ball to the MLB

yeah i saw, but when i watch Mahtook i just see a line drive swing. It's not bad, but line drives with wood bats don't go out the park like they do with metal.
i think he has pro power potential, 20-25 IMO.
sizemore at his best is 30-30

Read more. Post less.
I said that I realize he is hitting with an aluminum bat against college pitching

Grady Sizemore is someone I have compared Mahtook since last March. Speed, defense, power, emotionally in check, and every woman in respective cities wants to do them. Also, both were high school quarterbacks and are fairly well-sized.Both could hit lead-off or even in the 3 or 5 holes.
The main differences:
Sizemore strikes out 1 of every 4 at bats while Mahtoook seems to double that ratio.
Mahtook has a better arm and can play any OF position.
Sizemore is a .280, 35, 90 kind of player (and that's not him at the moment at all!). Mahtook, once in the majors, could be more of a .300, 20, 100 kind of player.
Sizemore did not play college baseball and went straight to the Montreal farm system. Mahtook, like Aaron Hill and Todd Walker and the like, will only benefit from playing in front of rowdy crowds and A and AA and even AAA ball will be a walk in the park. Grady, at one point early in his career, seemed to be intimidated by the crowds, especially on the road.
And as you pointed out...lefty vs. a righty.
Who will end up with the better career? That's still tough to say as Sizemore is still only 27, but his best years may be behind him already. From 2005-2008, Grady was an all-star type of stud. Mahtook should very well be in a MLB stadium by 2014. However, Mahtook is in no way a 100 percent lock. Brandon Larson, Eddy Furniss, Harry Berrios,Brad Creese, e.g. never became what many expected them to.
But simple answer - yes. Both guys bleed baseball.

Umm...no. Think of a good minor league player and that'll be Mahtook. He may get called up after about 4 years in the minors.
I think you are far underestimating him.

Mahtook is far too uncoordinated to be compared to Grady Sizemore.

Grady is one in a million as far as fluid athleticism goes. But as far as baseball, I think Mahtook is going to be better. Three years of college ball and playing in Omaha will be part of what makes him a more consistent player.
By the way, Sizemore is one-quarter black. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

pretty good analysis

I am...it's just a simple prediction. Like I said, playing college ball for the premier program in the country will give Mahtook an edge that Sizemore never had.
I dunno what happened to Grady. Maybe it's because he struck out with Mike Fontenont's fiancee. He's softer now than he ever was in 2004.
And he REALLY is 1/4 black...not that there's anything wrong with it.

injuries + teams have been able to pitch around him at times because lack of production surrounding him. and by pitch around i mean not give him anything good to hit. once he gets 100% healthy and back in the flow, he will be back number-wise

I hope so. He is sandwiched though between A. Cabrera and Choo, so now he has to see good fat pitches - especially if A Cab hits .280-.299. No one wants to throw Choo anything good at all and rightfully so.

I expected MM to develop more power this year. I really thought he'd wind up a 22-25 homerun guy his JR year. And he still might, but I thought he would have developed a litte more already. He's a 5-tool guy, and if he has a big year next year, could go pretty high.

Mahtook will be a first round draft pick and will be pulled up before his third year. Thats the first time I ever heard someone say something negative about being a line drive hitter. Calling Mahtook not that coordinated is ridiculous. Any kid offered division one scholoarships in football and baseball cannot be uncoordinated.
