nobody has something creative like the eye. its unique.
Well...sort of.
Auburn tried to copy it a few years ago with a set of tiger eyes at midfield. Imitation is flattery, but that was just too obvious (although it is nice to see Auburn trying to imitate LSU).

The eye of the tiger is the best and I hope that it stays and is in our LSU history for a long long time.

except that its from some cheesy 80's song
But it fits perfectly, and everyone understands its meaning because of the song. And the design is great.

Time for the reality check people.
The eye of the tiger will not be used on the field. There was a dispute that started several years ago on who owned the rights to the graphic, LSU or the artist that created it. The artist won out. LSU had to pay the artist a lot of money to settle. Last year was the last year for the eye of the tiger on the field.
This information is from a most reliable source.

I guess that's why LSU still offers "eye logo" hats on the LSU gift shop as of today...
Posted on 8/28/09 at 10:24 pm to sml71
Is that why the eye is already painted on the field?

"IS THIS TRUE?"
I don't see how this could be true. Like a previous poster remarked, I don't think it would have been liscensed to put on shirts, caps and everything else under the sun if it were true.

Unfortunately, the eye comes with the song, a cheezy, over-played, 80's song at that.
Tradition? Whatever you replace it with will be "traditional" in ten years.
