Charging for on campus parking was a new low.
Are they really doing this now at LSU? (Other than reserved parking?) I haven't been to a game in maybe 5-6 years but back then we could just find an open spot on campus and park.

The same thing is happening in the NFL, stadiums are becoming corporate and guaranteed money with the corporate money. It is a lot more convenient to sit at home and watch a game then it is going.

As of last year you could park out by the Vet school next to the levy for free. That will probably change. Also the traffic into campus is horrible.

Treat your fans like customers long enough, and eventually they’ll start behaving that way, reducing their irrational love for their team to a cool-headed, dollars-and-cents decision to buy tickets or not, with no more emotional investment than deciding whether to go to the movies.
Nailed it.

we have no choice but to stay on the train. If you really think about what we are spending our money on it makes no logical sense. So, its an emotionally dominated decision. Well, there are fewer and fewer emotional based decision makers (individuals) who can afford the game day experience in major college football. I suspect we will see LSU sell alcohol in the next 2 years as a revenue generator and then we will see a "package" of tickets offered -- 1 great game, 2 good ones and 1 not so good one. Then you are buying a set of tickets to the season instead of the entire season ticket package. Ohio State does this --
We definitely need to reenergize the atmosphere in 2014. Stadium has come down a couple notches.
Not an excuse but so have many of the other SEC schools I went to over the last 3 years. A&M was nuts and it was 11am -- but those guys were so damn excited to be in the SEC it was silly.

This thread cracks me up.
Every fan here wants to win a title, but no one is willing to pay for it.
As it stands today, LSU is still one of the cheaper tickets in the SEC.
You think Bama fans care how much they pay for a game? You think Bama fans care that they play a terribly weak schedule every year, while maybe having one decent game at BDS? No.
I could go on and on. If you want to win, it costs money.
Personally, I'm saving my money and staying home. I've shelled out close to six figures over the last decade plus following LSU sports. Those days are done. New priorities for many of the reasons listed in that article.
That article covers football, baseball, thanks to the new bats, is boring as frick and not fun to watch, and basketball is OK at best. My big screen, surround sound, and screened in pool is a much better option.

I've reached the point in life where it really depends on the seats I could get and the game. /sigh
At home: I can use my own bathroom, drink my own beer, sit in my recliner, replay something on the DVR till I'm convinced that the SEC refs blew the call, and the weather is always clear and cool.

Dude. It is simply NOT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE to move that volume of traffic in and out of campus in a timely manner.

other large stadiums handle that amount of traffic pretty well.
Post football traffic is horrible and it could be much better.

It can't be any worse than post baseball traffic trying to get away from the Box.

Not possible with current infrastructure
Would need to make multiple 4-6 lane roads from LSU directly to I-10

Anyone care to guess which poster in this thread works for LSU.

I stopped paying for season tickets and staying at home to watch the games during the days of Coach Curley Hallman (for different reasons) and realized the home experience was much better, particularly when you couple the mentioned problems with the terrible traffic problems that each game has. I'll go to a couple games each year, when I can score some of those prime corporate tickets, and usually to the bowl game. What am I missing? Only the financial drain and the headaches.

Northwestern University is trying a Dutch auction they call purple pricing. They do something similar for football.

quote:I've had 4 for many years now. 8-10k per year no way (maybe in Michigan, or if your lower sidelines at TS). I'm in north end zone it's 1200 for donation and about 2k for the tickets. Still not cheap but not a bloodbath really.

A family of four with season tickets will probably spend around $8 to $10,000 per year.
