Charging for on campus parking was a new low. Are they really doing this now at LSU?

Yes and I know I can't speak for everyone, but I think the issue for most isn't so much charging its what they are charging. 40 dollars a car and if you have a tailgating trailer its another 50.

They've manage to price lots of fans out.

I can afford it, I just choose not to.
Crap games is what's really done it for me though.
I'm not paying anything to see LSU play Appalachian state wanna be team.

The traffic, the parking, the people in the stands bitching about other people standing up, the shitty home games, taking all the good games to neutral sites...

It just isn't worth it to me to endure all the crap required to watch us play like dogshit against Furman.

I agree with this. My friends and I, all fairly recent LSU grads, had 8 tickets in the north endzone for the last 5 years. This year we all gave them up because its not smart financially. We had other friends sit next to us for every home game this year and only spend $125 total. For all the crap games the most they paid was $5 for north endzone tickets while I'm paying $50 plus the PSL fee.

The home schedule usually consists of 1 great game, 1 or 2 good games and the rest is garbage. Most seats are uncomfortable. Concession prices are way too high. I see less ads when i watch on tv than i do in the stadium. And basically unless you stare at the ribbon scoreboard on the east side waiting for stats or other games scores to pop up, you will never know. Why bother going in the stadium now a days? Its not like the band does much anymore either besides the 1st-4th down stuff.

It will be interesting to see what the next economic turndown brings to major college athletics.

Will middle class alumni prevail or will the corporations fully take over the process?

The alumni association needs a better relationship with TAF. Start there because the nickel and dining of alumni and fans is a serious concern for all involved.

The official reason stated for doing that was "the recession." The recession has been over for several years now.

With a 4 loss season prices may fall

While student tickets at LSU are very fair at $12 a game

Today's world? Wow, what a deal.

Mine were $20 back in the 90's at USC. And today they're $30.

$12?? For the price of a small pizza...How can people not go to the games?

This is the first spot-on article I've read about college football in months -- so of course it doesn't come from the mainstream sports media. Shame they revoked the author's press pass...they probably didn't like what he had to say.

I hate not being able to check scores in other games. They never show them on the screen and phones won't work

If something important is happening, they announce it or show it on the screen. One of my favorite moments ever is the USC/Stanford announcement. Furthermore, they show the scores on the screens running horizontally along the lip of the upper deck.

Focus on the fricking game in front of you.

I’m not there to see incessant marketing and donor recognition on the field.

Do LSU TAF still recognize 20yr TAF members at half-time? I can remember one year they did it at I believe the Ole Miss game. I have no problem with Donor recognition. It's a good commitment to the AD.

I've seen it somewhere, can't begin to find a link. But the extra ads were put on the scoreboard as compensation for the loss of the SEZ scoreboard. Now that we have two scoreboards in the south endzone to litter with ads, the NEZ one will be a little less cluttered. maybe. probably. hopefully. probably not.

Did you just become an LSU fan? Those adds were put on the sides of that score board the day it was installed!!! Long before the SEZ expansion was ever considered. Every year they are supposed to go away but are still there.

The only thing I can think of to promote this lie is the new purple wrapping that was installed around the expanded audio system for the last year. They had to add speakers due to the expansion and put adds all over this cover.

Don't hold your breath for a full big screen in the NEZ. I am willing to bet the coke, Mc Donald's, and people's health adds will still be there this year along with adds taking up half of the new screens during the 1st home game

I don't get the "i would rather watch it on TV mindset".

And i hope i never will

You will one day though. Having gone to home games for 35 of 40 years, it gets to that point. I still keep renewing my season tickets so that I don't lose them forever. But I sell all the crap games. And even with that, it's getting to the point that my definition of crap games evolves over to some SEC teams now. Just not worth the hassle and I've had a good run in the games I've been to in the past. So it's not like I'm missing anything. Lots of folks are like me.

USC Stanford is the only occasion I remember them announcing a score live . They only show scores on the screen once or twice per quarter. I was at the kent state game this year. It would've been nice to know the score of the Texas a&m Alabama game going on at the same time.

There are two reasons I don't attend anymore. A 6 year old and an 8 year old.

I'm not spending hours sitting in traffic so I can walk a mile with two kids in tow. Concessions for a family of four is out of my price range. Add that to the fact that there is no tradition left in the experience that I really want to pass on to my kids and I'm not going to waste my money. When I was a kid my parents took me to every game and I thought it was a magical place. Now, the band doesn't play, the announcer never talks, and Mike never comes out of his damn habitat. What's left to pass on to my kids?

Having asses in the seats means very little to LSU when the tickets are sold either way.
Less asses in the seats can equate to less money spent on concessions, parking, university stores, but they will compensate with a dollar here and a dollar there on fan items.

I have season tickets, but have been selling them for what I have in them. The drive to Baton Rouge to watch the Bowling Greens, UABs, etc... is not worth the cost. I had more fun in loosing seasons (90s) watching quality games like Notre Dame, Florida State, coming to Tiger Stadium. Now days to go and watch the scrub opponents and finding a way to win late in the game is boring. I understand the slack schedule but put the team away early and let the fans enjoy watching the youth on the field develop.
