Michigan State's guards shoot better than 40% from the 3 point line.

Got to defend these guys up top.
Cassius Winston 40.1%
Joshua Langford 40.3%
Matt McQuaid 43.1%
As a team they shoot 38.3% from 3.
Whereas LSU shoots 32.3% from the three.
And if you think Graves is the answer to counter MSU's threes, Graves is only shooting 36.4%. Our best 3 point shooter is Days at 37.9%.
Again. Days will need to play 15 to 20 minutes. Days' minutes are productive and he is good on defense and productive with rebounds and assist. Against Maryland he played 15 minutes and scored 10 points, had 5 rebounds, 1 assist and is our best threat from the 3 point line.
ETA: Langford for MSU is out.

I've got a simple answer. Don't get into a 3-point shooting contest with them.

I don’t understand why we don’t utilize Days when teams go zone on us. He shoots the corner 3 particularly well. Put him in the corner and get the ball to Naz on the elbow. When the wing collapses, kick it out to Days in the corner for 3.

I sure hope Josh Langford doesn’t go off on us! That’d be pretty impressive

Gotta make sure the white dude doesn’t go off.

Yeah fa sho. Langford’s been out since like January though

I'm very confident Josh Langford won't make a single three on Friday. In fact, I'll bet he doesn't score at all

LSU has been defending the 3 really well in the 1st half all year then teams start getting open looks like crazy in the 2nd half. Can't get into that with them Friday. LSU has the advantage in the paint YET AGAIN. Force them inside and let the bigs do their thang. Same for the offense. Don't get into a quick 3 contest. Work the ball inside and let Naz, Bigby, Marlon, etc, clean up the glass. Gonna be a fun night.

JJ Reddick was money from the arc too
then went 3-18 against the Tigers

That's one way to break the zone. Pull Taylor and sub in Days and let Days hit that open three that Taylor hesitates on 80% of the time. And if MSU's defense crashes on Days he just has to ball fake and penetrate the lane to shoot or dish. Day's skills are better than Taylor's at this point.

That first half D vs Maryland we were so locked in. Armstrong did a very good scout on them.

Days’ arm reach is pretty incredible. Go go gadget arms.

We have a version of Garrett Temple's defense in Smart on this team. He's really quick and physical just like Garrett. He just doesn't have the length. Everytime Reddick touched the ball he had Temple's gigantic wingspan in his face. Smart doesn't play the whole game and he tends to get lazy late in games.

Taylor really has no business shooting any threes at this point. I understand he was a good shooter in JC, but he can't seem to find his stroke from the outside. He's become somewhat of a black hole on offense because he isn't a great shooter and isn't a good enough ball handler to drive by his guy and create.
His best offensive play is that back door cut for an ally.

The Days/Taylor rotation is interesting. Taylor is clearly more athletic, but Days is much more productive. Taylor's benefit is shutting down an opponent's wing. However, when he's disengaged (like he was on Sat.) he is a big liability because other than an occasional highlight dunk, he gives you very little on offense.
Days worries you on defense because he is a fouling machine. However, when he's on there may not be a more efficient player on LSU's entire team. Vs. Maryland he had 10 points and 5 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play. He doesn't always get the credit, but he is a tremendous rebounder. He's also the purest shooter on the team.
The Days/Taylor rotation might be the biggest coaching decision for the bench (you know what you are getting from everyone else). I thought Benford rode Taylor too much on Sat. when it was clear from the beginning Days was locked in. He had 5 quick points and 3 rebounds in his first 3-4 minutes of action.
Taylor should get the start because MSU has a really good wing. But Days needs some playing time (particularly vs a team that rebounds as well as MSU.)

One thing we’ve been missing these last couple games is a monster dunk from Taylor.

He was ready to bring the house down against Maryland on that break away.....then he kicked the ball out of bounds.
