I dont have an opinion today. Next week I could.
Mettenberger was a big strong guy who had command of the offense. He also had Jarvis and Odell and a great running game. He was an above average SEC QB, which any team will take almost any year, when going with an unknown.
But he couldnt run out of sight in a week. Totally stationary. Im not sure he wouldve made it thru the this game or could he had anticipated and made some huge plays.
Brennan seemed as jittery as an old Buck the last day of Deer season and the biggest worry is can he handle this, mentally. Something I cant put my finger on today seems off centered with this guy. Hopefully, Im dead wrong on this.
These SEC defenses are top of the line and feast on the nervous.
Command, pocket presence, vision and anticipation are all in question, but it was the first game and he deserves the benefit of doubt as of today. Many offenses that look incompetent in week 1 make huge strides in week 2 each year at all levels.
QB's can either make it happen on game day or they cant, no matter the talent shown on a practice field.

Mett, and it's not close.

I hated this TV game - camera angles seemed to always be just on him, I have no idea how he really did, because I couldn't see what he was seeing.

Hopefully Brennan is a graduate next year and online school like Mettenburger and Borrows

We watched the game and didn't look at a box score

I’d need to see a bigger sample size of Brennan to answer your question. This was only one game for Brennan to compare to a couple years worth of games for Mett.

Mettenburger is head and shoulders better than Breenan. Better arm, better decision maker and knows how to step up into a pocket and deliver.

Mett without a doubt, Boy was a gamer.

Mett, not even a question

Brennan muck like Jeff Wickersham back in the day. Strong arm fairy accurate but mechanical not a lot of savvy at this point.

I'll take the guy that threw for 3000 yard sin a Les Miles offense and made it to the NFL over anything I've seen from Brennan to this point.
In a ten game season, at the rate he is playing, Brennan will have 3500 yds and 30 TDs.
I expect he will improve his game.
I'll take Brennan and its not close.

Is this a real question?
Mett would have won a Heisman in last year’s offense.
He’s probably not as smart and definitely not as athletic as Burrow, but he has a better arm and could make every throw.
He didn’t play scared.

well in Metts first year....until bama, he looked the same or worse than brennan yesterday
Can’t really compare. Mett was saddled with Les Miles shitty offense
