Mental toughness won’t solve LSU’s problems in the red zone

Les Miles’ teams were all mentally tough and his players knew how to execute plays even punt returns but Miles was still fired!
The point I hope Kelly realizes is that lack of mental toughness was only half his team’s problem. Lack of creativity by LSU’s offense and defense in the red zone was the other half of the problem. Does it really matter if an offense drives down the field, when you can still demoralize a team if you can keep denying them points in the red zone.

While I tend to agree with this, 1/9 suggests something different. Miles was fired because he didn’t adapt, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
In any event, there was a myriad of reasons for the loss to FSU. It wasn’t one particular thing. It’s been discussed.
Let’s see how the coaches adjust and go from there. If nothing changes, then I’ll be concerned.
All we can do is see what happens. Will Rogers is a good QB.
One game at a time.

They got their asses handed to them on both sides of the line, it is just that simple. They won't see offensive and defensive lines like that again until they face Bama. It will make them look better for a while. Their conditioning in the second half was very suspect too.

What you do after an embarrassing loss is the real barometer of mental toughness, IMO. Not really Grambling but how the team performs vs Moo State and Arkansas will tell us more about mental toughness.

That's the issue I had. It's not that we lost, it's how we lost.

Les was fired for letting the top program in the nation descend to a middle of the pack SEC team. He was fired for turning LSU into an 8-4 team his last few years.

Last year and against FSU, play calling the red zone was terrible.
Of course, if you are dominating on he OL, you can just impose your will on the defense. But against good teams, you have to outcoach your adversary in the red zone. We lose that battle with uncomfortable frequency.
Kelly is going to have to deal with this and soon.

But will he? We joked about BBQ buddies with Les and Ed, but our OC is the biggest bbq buddy yet.

Wrong. Hard yards are 50% if not more mental

There’s going to be a barbecue from the fan base if we keep seeing what we saw Sunday

Miles was the worse LSU coach ever.

Lol, not even close to the worst ever.
Much closer to being the best ever than he is from being the worst ever.
Miles is solidly in the top 3/4 that the program has ever had.

Kelly needs to watch LSU vs Fla and see how many times Miles’ team was successful at getting a first down.
