I don’t think he gets 3 years to turn it around. We lose the way we did year 1 again in year 2, he is toast unless major sanctions are announced.

I just think due to the buyout, it drops tremendously after year 3

I’m looking for him to add shooters to the roster…gosh knows last year’s team couldn’t. I’m not seeing enough arriving with these moves.

Did you think 5 star recruits would be beating down the doors to come play for a 13-19 team?

If I am not mistaken we locked him down for a guaranteed amount, with another year tacked on automatically pending heavy sanctions.

Sunk cost fallacy at a certain point if there is no improvement. He could cost the university a lot more to keep than to fire him, if he is a dud. Ticket sales will spiral down as will concessions, etc.

We were dangerously close to making a run after beating Georgia in the SEC tournament last year.

By losing to Vanderbilt by double digits two weeks after we had just beat them?

The last recruiting class Wade had coming in before being fired, just go look and see how all them panned out on other teams last year. Only one of them panned out to be a decent player, Julian Phillips, and that was it, with most of them transferring out on the teams they chose.

Is it just me or is CMM just loading up on La transfer players who weren’t good enough to recruit out of high school?
Which one wasn't good enough to recruit put of hs? Be specific.

Pretty sure Auburn signed Danjel Purifoy, Chuma Okeke, Austin Wiley, and Mustapha Herron a year after having a 13-19 type record. Those guys lead them to a final 4 (minus Herron). The point is you gotta have a certain type of coach to be competitive at a non traditional basketball school and so far McMahon, despite being a great guy, doesn’t seem to have the tools to recruit like others can.

Shh, the Macolytes need you to believe that the recruiting is always great but when the season starts everything is the players fault. I know that sounds stupid but that’s their narrative and they’re sticking to it.

Purify, Wiley, and Herron signed and they went 18-14. The next year when Okeke (and Dunbar) joined they lost in the 2nd round. The following year they made their run. I think most of you guys greatly romanticize older teams.

And you greatly romanticize shitty basketball. And no, they went 18-14 the first year WITH all those 5 star guys. Those guys signed following a year where Auburn went 11-20, which is what I was referring to in my post.

Which is what I said. They signed 3 guys, then went 18-14. Then they got 2 more guys, then lost 2nd round. The next year they made a run.

Since this was all several years ago, maybe you can remind me what sanctions they were facing?

Also, you do realize he signed those guys after his 2nd full season at Auburn, right?

There are no sanctions. We self imposed a scholarship reduction and fired wade. It’s done

Care to remind me how Will Wade was still able to get 4 and 5 stars here while having sanctions

He paid them. And he never had sanctions or an NOA.
