Sure were - Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Bill Belichick and a couple others. Who'd you have in mind?

Dan Mullen had a much better record at an equally not traditional powerhouse school.

He also won a NC as an OC and is 1-0 vs O currently.
Maybe him.

Idk I could think of a few more.

So I will:

Gundy
Leach
Chip Kelly was available a few weeks later

I also said "available"

if Texas A&M can land Jimbo Fisher, you really don't think LSU could have landed someone more qualified than the worst coach in Ole miss history? okay

The worst coach in Ole Miss history coached circles around Jimbo Fisher this year. Jimbo was 5-6 at FSU this year with what is the most or second most talented team in the ACC. His biggest win was either the 7-point win over Duke or his 7-point win over Wake Forest. His 3-point win over Syracuse was not that impressive.

I think Jimbo wanted out of Tallahassee more than A&M wanted him as their head coach.

Anybody that supports and defends Alleva is just too far over the top Snowflake Pump Lump Pumpnut to even be taken seriously.

Just looking for attention and validation from any place that may provide it. (Tiger Rant in this case)

BTW, what's your girlfriends name that you falsely claim to have had sex with? Maya Righthanda.

Alleva has been atrocious. Have you gone to a Football game this year? Tiger Stadium is a shell of it's former self and a HUGE part of that is Alleva.

He said the truth didn't matter in the Duke lacrosse case, indirectly supporting the plaintiff's false claims. An AD can nearly print money at LSU and avoid selling out the program. How LSU hired him to follow an AD like Skip Bertman is beyond me.

I imagined you saying all of this with David Allen Coe playing in the background.

I don't share the alleva hate either. O just went 9&3, brought the team back from the brink, LSU is going to be fine with O.

Unfortunately, a true narrative.

-Les Miles firing in 2015 was botched by F.King and Alleva (the entire 4 weeks leading to A&M postgame)
-Florida hurricane fiasco was botched by Alleva (we somehow became the bad guy and still lost a home game for a game that had nothing to do with Baton Rouge)
-2016 coaching "search" was botched by Alleva
-Instead of taking time to find the next qualified candidate (which he had 3 months to do beforehand), Alleva got his panties in a wad and tried to beat Texas/Herman to a press conference
-Buyout given to Orgeron was financially irresponsible given the circumstances and leverage involved
-Experiment of O and Canada has been mismanaged, leading to a historically embarassing loss to Troy

You may call it a narrative, I call it total mismanagement of the $1 billion entity that is LSU athletics.

If they made a movie about LSU football, Dabney Coleman would have to play the role of Joe Alleva. (Christopher Walken could be Les Miles but that's another thread).

Letting the basketball team quit and not play in the postseason is an unforgivable offense on the Alleva resume.

Alleva is selfish, scandalous, and just financially stupid. Yeah, let's give the coach nobody else in the country wanted a $12 million buyout when he would have coached here for gumbo and a crawfish boil every once in a while

I don't care about his "not getting Fisher" because the bottom line is that If Fisher wanted to be the LSU coach, he'd be here. It wasn't as if LSU wasn't offering to pay him $10.00 an hour. In 2015 Fisher leveraged LSU. That was the play all along unless LSU wanted to pay the ransom A&M eventually did.

However, 2 of Alleva's last major hires were indefensible. Joe hired AND OVERPAID two guys (Jones and Ogeron) who:

1. Had minimal to no success in their head coaching career and

2. No other power conf school in America wanted or would even consider for their HC position.

Joe quite literally bid against himself to hire and overpay O and Jones. Thank God Wade and Eddie Nunez may have saved O from his own incompetence.

Frankly, I do not give a damn what Coach O did, or did not do at Ole Miss.

I care about what he does at LSU, and wile there was a rocky start he is doing pretty well.

Time will tell, I am backing LSUs coach because it helps LSU

I think Alleva made a very good decision with the time he had.... considering that Jimbo and Herman were both "playing" LSU to get leverage.

Look at what has happened to TN with a veeeery long search

If you don't think he's one of the worst ADs in the country, you just don't pay enough attention.
It's not that he made a bad hire with coach O, so much as the way he horribly mishandled the Les Miles firing. Also please take a look at last year's Florida Fiasco. All of that happens because Joe alleva gets completely owned in every negotiation he has ever been a part of. He looks like a passenger in every conversation, and that is a horrible look for LSU.
