With all the groaning and moaning about the offense, the fact that we gave up more yards than EVER during Miles' tenure (to Miss St no less) has been completely lost in the discussion.

Offense can be fixed. We are really young at critical skill positions but time will take care of that. The critical thing is ...the skill is there.

I don't think the same can be said for the DL. Chavis has tried every combination under the sun and nothing seems to work against a balanced team. If we are going to be in for a long year, it's going to be due to the defense; not the offense.

the d is the reason this year could collapse. our dline, welter and martin are gaping holes in the defense.

Just gotta hope more playing time for Beckwith, Adams and Jefferson help up the middle. I don't know that we actually have a fix for DT on the roster right now.

I'm worried if Adams, Paris or Jefferswag can't beat out martin. Martin was a complete embarrassment on saturday

Id like to see the pumpers defend miles gaping holes in recruiting. He has great classes but then we end up with a position that is just weak overall.

Martin will look like Ronnie Lott saturday and earn more snaps @ Auburn

Indeed, Welter will also have more solo tackles than times pancaked. Sadly it all comes apart on the plains

yep if you don't fill the holes then the ranking is pointless

You shouldn't be shocked to find out that run went for 66 yards.

Why did we play our safeties so far off the ball? We spent all summer praising our DBs and ability to play man coverage and now we're terrified of a decent throwing QB and a decent, but not overly explosive group of WRs beating us over the top?

When LSU did have bodies, they rarely got Prescott or Robinson down on first contact. Credit to State for blocking well and running hard, but the gang tackling that Chavis adamantly preaches as key to his defensive strategies simply didn't exist. That said, I'll give credit to all of the d-line, who routinely hustled down field to make tackles after getting blown of the ball!

The passing game is troublesome because we generate absolutely no pass rush. Our front four simply get no pressure, especially the tackles. I can remember maybe three good pressures all night, and one of those came from a blitz in the Mustang.

I don't disagree that the defense definitely has issues, but run-run-run-punt doesn't help either side of the ball

We thought we filled the holes from the 2012 class by taking a lot of DL in 2013.

It seems most of those guys are not living up to their rating coming out of HS though.

DL/OL is the hardest positions to predict from HS to college.

I wonder how much of this failure is on the s&c program.

We are super soft up the middle.

And BTW why hasn't Garrett seen any playing time yet?
