McNeese as a fan base can't be this delusional

I was sitting in the barber shop the other day and a guy who was in there was a McNeese student, who is doing his student teaching somewhere and coaching football. This dude raved about how good McNeese will be this year in football, and said that he really believed McNeese would win. He said if they didn't win it would be a really good game. The barber tried to explain that the talent difference is just too big for McNeese to every overcome. One of this dudes lines were that LSU brought in better players, but they did not have the coaches that could coach them up. The barber made a comparison to horse racing, saying you don't enter a donkey into a thoroughbred race and expect the donkey to win.
I know McNeese fans are proud of their program, and they should be, but I hope there aren't 1,000 fans walking around campus Saturday thinking that McNeese has a legit shot at winning this game. Miracles do happen, but this would be greater than the App St. over Michigan game from a few years back.

Best case acenario for them is LSU shits their pants all game. And that still results in a 20 point loss.
Worst case is like a 56-0 type game.

We only beat them by 22 in 2010 FWIW

Unlike loser Cajun fans, most of the McNeese fans are fans of both McNeese and LSU. Many of the McNeese fans will travel from SW Louisiana to enjoy the game and enjoy watching both teams play.

Agree with you Rockyn but remember that was a mid season game not a season opener. Just my opinion but I believe this team will be alot more fired up to play McNeese State at this point of the season rather than down the road during the middle of a grueling SEC schedule. Again just my 2 cents worth.

I'm confident we will win, but I don't blame others for having faith in their team. It kind of defeats the purpose of them being fans.

Best they can hope for is to not lose half of their team to injury. Oh and I to work with a former Mcneese band member who tried to argue their chance at victory.

It was the look ahead game to Auburn. It was also Michael Ford's coming out party IIRC.

There's always that tiny bit of fear of losing because it would be catastrophic and the program would emplode and tDecline would be real but we won't lose. We can't lose

Mcneese fans are good people. I want them to be confident and talk a little smack, as long as they arent assholes about it like ull fans

That is very delusional. Best case is it stays respectable the first half. I don't think McNeese is supposed to be that great this year anyway.

Sadly, I think they are. I have a few McNeese friends who are pretty certain they'll be giving us a run for our money lol!

Would have been 52 had Jarrett Lee qb'd all game.
No, seriously. Go look at the stats. Jordan Jeffeson was in the game for a total of 3 points. That was a 3 and out following a turnover with starting position already in field goal range.

There are a few like that.
No big deal though.
We are proud of our school and team, and we'll bring a great respectful crowd that also enjoys the fact that football is back. There is a large contingent of our fanbase that are LSU fans. There are few that are in fact still wearing purple and gold and cheering for LSU. That's fine. Beating LSU doesn't do much for us in the long run. Sure, it'd be an awesome win for our program, and I never expect McNeese to go lay down against in anyone. But winning our conference and going to the playoffs is the number 1 goal, and the LSU game will have little effect on either.

Kid has a lot to leave about being a football coach.
