If he really is the best man for the SS job, then so be it. Whatever helps us win.
He's great in run support. I still worry about his pass coverage whether it's at the SS position or in the nickel.

yeah but the league he played in has 99% honkey, seperate water fountains too I'm sure. Hitman and OTIS2 pretty much hate any LSU athlete that didn't play in that league, so only Ridley, Louis Coleman and Will Arnold are worth a shite in the history of LSU.

Yes, he is. But since the whole "white league hero" idea is a fantasy in the first place, why would the reality of Ridley's race get in the way?

Ford will be red-shirted this year and will play special teams next year. Next year is Murphy's 5 th. He will be the back. He's committed 5 years to the trade. Compared to him, Ford will not see the time of day. Next year will be Ridley's 4 th. If Ridley stays healthy, #26 and #34 will see 85% or more of the totes. Ford will not see the time of day on O.

another awesome quote from HITMAN giving every bit of indirect RB credit to Ridley.

per HITMAN if you are MVP of a 5A LHSAA district you would not even make honorable mention all-district in 1A of the white league. Silliman > Destrehan

I tend to seriously doubt this. It will be the Ford and Ridley show.

Wow. Is Les going to lock him up in solitary confinement with no clocks or something? Geez he's a tough corch.

Wow!! I read DD this morning hearing of McCray starting and was compelled to start a thread! 8 pages later I am so late!! I have watched this kid since 07 look confused play after play...the "percy harvin" play is referenced a lot in this thread...however, Auburn's terrible office burned him last year as well..the bottom line is every OC looks for where 44 is on the field and targets him...i suspect he is seeing more time at SS because of LB injuries and questions of where Taylor will flurish...almost everyone in this thread and most sober fans know where balls will be thrown when a play is needed.."check at the line, where is 44, throw it there" maybe Ron Cooper has some magic pixy dust to sprinkle on 44

I hear their redshirt office is three stories, 3500 sq. ft. and runs a 4.4". There's no way McCray's covering that beast of an office.

the harvin play wasn't that bad, as I mentioned, McCray had him covered and had he not tipped the ball it probably would've been incomplete. Another issue last year was confusion, half these guys didn't know who they were covering when the ball was snapped because the calls were so late from the sidelines...the Aub touchdown was an example of that. Most of McCray's issues have been with missing his zone assignment, not necessarily with coverage. Hopefully these are all things that the new staff has fixed.

I'll look past the fact that you completely butchered the word "offense". First off, did you watch the Auburn play I assuming you are talking about? Did you see where the players were lined up? I'm guessing you were talking about the go ahead touchdown auburn scored at the end of the game? It was a good throw for starters. Secondly, the play was a 3rd & 10 or 4th & 10. We have McCray (playing Nickel, a positon completely different from SS) right on the line against their receiver, and Auburn has the ball around the 10 yard line. Now why would we put a bad nickel in that position? Bump and run coverage on a 4th and long? Someone who is known for being beat, that's just dumb defensive coaching.

yes I am a dumbass, not proof reading my text, so the comments are deserved...however, there are comments in this thread like, "only having him on the field on 1st and 2nd down during traditional running downs...if it were that easy, wouldn't teams line up 4 wide on 1st down knowing he will be isolated with someone? Chief says he wants to keep things simple. if teams have two years of game film on a weak link, it doesn't help Chief in his quest to simplify the defense...

when a team splits out 4 wide, depending on your defensive scheme, the SS is either isolated or providing weakside support, there is really no where to hide or protect the SS..I have seen McCray come up in run support and make solid tackles, so that is not his issue...i hope i am wrong regarding how i anticipate teams exploiting him, again..
