we are not going to be running the malveto/pellini scheme anymore. players will not be put in the same positions as they were last year.
Chavis is more of a blitzer than Malveto/pellini.

Meaning the SS, when not blitzing, will cover the WR.

Has anyone thought that it might have been last years scheme that McCray had trouble with? I mean, alot of the DB's looked like they couldnt play their positions last year.

The entire defense was pretty terrible... ANd im sure the LSU dynasty has learned from there mistake of using a two guys as DC.

Too bad McCray sucked in 2007 also. He cost us the Arkansas game b/c he didn't cover the Fullback on 4th down.

Of course he wasn't the safety on that play.

yeah, McCray had a terrible covering reputation pre-Malveto

he just lacks the skills to cover a superior playmaker, period.

Either the other guys are either not nearly as good run defenders as him or he's just a "Miles guy", b/c there's no way he's better in coverage than the other guys.

You have no way of knowing this.

OR it could be a symbolic gesture to a senior who has worked his butt off for 4 years...

Agree. you may be able to hide some of his deficiencies as SS but it still doesn't change his entire history of not being able to cover people.

I actually thought it would be Hatcher. I had heard from a lot of different places that Brandon was going to get the nod, but I thought Hatcher's time last year would have given him the advantage. Oh well, good for Danny. He's one of my favorite players, and I cannot express how pissed I get when I see idiot fricks on TD.com bash the guy when they have 0.0% clue what they are talking about 100% of the time.

that'd be pretty fricking mean to announce to the world he was starting and then demote him in 2 weeks

well, he did say "it may very well be"...which isn't exactly "McCray will start"
