Maybe O wants to groom LaCouture for the job over Meatball

I could see if O wanted LaCouture to learn under someone for a few seasons before handing over the job then the logical guy to learn from would be Bill Johnson over Meatball. I hate losing him to Baylor but I also know LaCouture is a favorite of O from his playing days. He always seemed to have a high football IQ and he played with good technique to compensate for his average athleticism not to mention the obvious leadership qualities from wearing #18.

I'm not pretending know much about what's going on with the coaching changes, but I would have to believe that if Coach O wanted Meatball at LSU bad enough that he would be here.

But Meatball was a great recruiter. I know LaCoutre hasn’t done recruiting yet but Dennis has. Christian could easily sell playing at Tiger Stadium, Coach O, the school. Meatball did that but he couldn’t sell playing for Coach O and more recent things,

Isn’t Karl the DL coach with the Steelers...I might be wrong but thought he went there last year.

Karl is currently Bo’s DC at Youngstown.

You mean Carl, not Karl. I was getting excited for a minute until I saw your Carl.

I’m thinking that a DC has already been hired and meatball was told to look elsewhere as whoever this person is, they’re bringing in their own people.

Thinking it was more money related. Guys making 600 grand with essentially what 2-3 years of actual coaching experience? Check Corey Raymond's pay and then decide if Meatball is worth 600 grand.
Sure we could pay it just like we could've paid Jimbo but it's not wise. Johnson hasn't shown me he's worthy of an equal contract to Raymond. We can hire a better coach and recruiter for 600 grand

There was an unbelievable amount of criticism on this board about how many D linemen we lost out on that meatball was supposedly the lead recruiter for just a couple short years ago. Now all of a sudden he was a great recruiter, even though he was an analyst and not able to recruit.

This time a year ago, tRant was complaining that meatball couldn't close and was a terrible recruiter. So which is it?
