Honestly, I dont know how Parker has never won that award. He's been top tier for a long time.

Parker deserves it

A defense carrying that team as far as they did is a complete anomaly.

wouldn't have happened anyway - this is (shockingly) the first time that Phil Parker (D Coach Iowa) has been a finalist and he's coached years and years of great defenses there

so in essence it's a lifetime achievement award for Parker

Phil Parkers defense dragged Iowa to 10 wins despite their offense scoring like 6 points per game.

More like Matt House helped Denbrock get into the conversation with all those quick scores opponents put on us.

Or because his defense was insane this year.

LSU should go and make Parker the highest-paid coordinator in the country. We win multiple natties with him and Denbrock.

Damn. Parker is making under 600K at Iowa. Offer him 2.5M and be done with it.

Matt House is making 1.8 million... A damn shame. This can be done. Make Iowa match.

Message boards are abuzz that Ohio State’s defensive coordinator may take the Duke job. Buckeye fans are saying “we need to back up the brinks truck for this guy.” CBK needs to make his pitch quickly.

Parker is a genius, or a wizard, or both. He parlayed a team averaging only 238.8 yds/game to a 10-3 record!

How did he do it?

I fully realize that most chase the almighty dollar, but believe it or not, some do not. Culture fit and quality of life is more important to some.

I have a friend who GA’d with Parker at Michigan State and is an Athletic Trainer now at Iowa. He says Parker has told him he is happy at Iowa and glad his kids had a stable place to grow up.

That’s all fine and good but Ferentz may be retiring but even if not, you more than triple a guy’s salary and he will have to think hard before turning that down. And Parker is 60. I assume his kids are grown and on their own by now.

No he doesn't

LSU's offense carried it to a winning record.

Iowa played the

73
84
88
90
102
103
105
106
116
124
132

Ranked offenses. Only Utah St (26th) and Penn St (12th) were teams they played with top 70 offenses in the regular season.

It's easy to have a fake arse good defense when you play high school offenses every week.

They gave up 26 and 31 to Michigan and Penn St

Denbrock had the undeniable #1 offense against actually good defenses.

LSU should be sweeping all awards that could even potentially be given to an offensive player except TE and RB.

I think we watched different games this year.
TAMU's 2nd drive went 17 plays and 9 minutes.

I can't imagine what Daniels' numbers would've been if we had won the Time of Possession battle in the majority of our games.
