No brainer unless Miami offered double the money. Who wants to go compete in the division with New England when you can go to one that you can win at 9-7. SF will have a real schedule this year and the Seahawks should be one of the favorites to win it.

The short term is good for both parties. If Flynn does well in his first year Seattle gets a chance to renogotiate in the second for a long term deal. No way they let it go to the last year with a guy who's proved to be the starter. If Matt performs he'll get paid big time - not that 10-26 mil is chump change!

I think the contract shows that maybe they aren't sure of him. They are basically paying him to try out. He can really make big money in 2 years.

His longterm GF who lives in LA should be happy with this.

14 of their 16 opponents are common. The gap between the two teams is far bigger than 2 games.

Miami is a pretty damn dysfunctional organization right now, so it's really a no-brainer to go to a team that can sniff .500 as opposed to potentially .200.

Although I grew up in La. and am a Saints fan, I've been living in Seattle for 20 years and I'm also a Seahawks fan. This is the guy I’ve wanted the Hawks to get all along.
Loved Flynn both as a leader and playmaker ever since he guided the Swamp Cats to the title in 2007. Not a massive arm, but very poised in the pocket. I think this is a big, big win for John Schneider, Pete Carroll, and Paul Allen. We were in a dogfight with Miami for this guy. Best of all, it’s risk-free. Didn’t have to give up any draft picks, only money, and this is just walking around money for Paul Allen.
Looking forward to Sept. 2012.

I am tickled pink for Matt Flynn. The dude was the Tiger's best QB for longer than the year he started, IMHO. What a cool customer!

I love Les Miles, and he wins for lots of reasons. One of those is not his judgement with respect to who ought to be starting at QB.

In the college game, I can see why Coach Miles stuck with Russel until he was drafted. I'll never understand why he replaced JL with JJ down the stretch last season. JJ's starts were awful!

-----------

No... unless you're a niner's fan. They were god-awful in '10 with pretty much the same team. They both play in the weakest division in the NFL. As far as beating the Saints in the playoff is concerned Marshawn Lynch is unimpressed - by that win or the bounty. Both teams eliminated the Saints and the Saints were the only good team SF beat all year.

One of the cupcakes on the SF schedule was Seattle with Tarvaris Jackson at QB. Horrid decision by Carroll on letting the OC talk him into that. If Matt is half as good as I think he is they will compete for the division title this season.

Unless the 49ers get Peyton - then all bets are off. But I can't see PM even considering playing for Harbaugh seriously.

For the past year ive been saying the seahawks needed to trade for flynn...this is even better. A great TIGER QB can go to Seattle who are building a young team. Young but stable O line should only get better and give him time. Very talented receivers. and if it gets bad, have Marshawn to hand it off too. I just hope Pete Lets him compete for the starter, and i mean seriously. Not just say theres competition but it always be Tavaris job to lose no matter how bad he plays * sound familiar?* As a LSU and Seahawks fan this is amazing if he can do big things.

Good for Matt Flynn. I hope he does well. He's a good guy and I'm glad he's going to make some real money.

I'm happy to see him get the recognition and a good deal. Pete seems to be the kind of coach that can give him a good chance to succeed. WTG MATT!

Just read he is going to wear #15 again.

quote:

Terms of Flynn's deal were not released by the team, although owner Paul Allen took to Twitter to congratulate general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll on locking up Flynn for three years.

"Just got off the phone with Matt Flynn. And he's ready to WIN!!," Seattle receiver Doug Baldwin tweeted Sunday.

Baldwin also wrote that he will give No. 15 to Flynn and wear No. 89 this season. Flynn wore No. 15 in college at LSU, but wore No. 10 with Green Bay.
