Since you've proven on multiple occasions that you're completely incapable of explaining what a "smashmouth spread" is, I'll take it that you're just repeating the same regurgitated media bullshite buzzwords that's being used to describe modern RPO spread offenses. But it's okay though, dude. It really is. You're just on a different level than us. How could any of us have known where a 6 tech lines up?

It's just a fricking vertical spread concept RPO. Why are you and everyone else calling it "smashmouth spread"? It sounds like something out of a retarded madden video game.

because it's built upon inside zone option. between the tackles.

you'd rather say," auburn runs a vertical run pass offense that built upon inside zone option"?

Well I'd actually say that Auburn runs a wing-t spread option vertical concept RPO offense

But hey, smashmouth spread may sound retarded but it works.

to life, love, and the smashmouth spread

exactly. let the football ignorant posters out themselves.

I don't think this argument is about football ignorance. It's quibbling over how to define a "massive change."

If we had Canada last season we beat Alabama probably. Oh well. It got Les fired.

For telling the truth?

Fact is, Canada's offenses while he is an OC aren't any better than Les's offenses here at LSU.

I'm not sure you phrased this correctly.

But, IF you are saying Canada's offenses are NOT better than Les'.....I think you could ONLY determine that if you are able to control for the 'athlete disparity' relative to each team, right?

I mean, LSU lines up with an advantage in all but 1 or 2 games each year.

If I coach the Golden State Warriors and Coach K coaches the Sacramento Kings.... my team "winning" does not make me a better coach.

I am a huge fan of the Canada hire and I think he will do very well for us. However, if you think that he's going to magically transform our team into the Alabama giant killer you are sorely mistaken. There have been many great offensive coaches in the SEC (Spurrier, Mullen , Meyer, Malzahn, etc.) And more often than not, little Nicky figures them out. Canada has never coached a down of football in the SEC and we know our league is on a whole other level aka NFL lite. Let's pump the breaks a little kids. Sorry for the reality check rantards.

Me personally, with modern football I choose to define "massive change" with formations/personnel utilization over play selection.

Baylor had 628 rush att for 3143 yds while LSU had 459 att for 2796 yds.

Oregon runs over 60% of the time out of their spread.

You can pass out of the power I or a Wing. Number of eligible receivers didn't change. Lou Holtz at Notre Dame did it very well (just not often). Can utilize the FB or TE in the passing game.

We can all agree there's a "massive difference" between Baylor/Oregon and LSU, and it isn't run to pass ratio.

So to me if you are changing the formations (or player utilization) and hitting the same holes (or route trees) it is a massive difference.

Canada's offense was the only one to outscore the team that beat Bama.

Little Nicky never did figure out Clemson's offense. And Pitt's was better.

Correct, they are NOT better.

I conceded that Canada has never had the athletes that he has at LSU, but at many of his stops he was not playing against our level of competition.

I think he'll do fine at LSU, but he could also very easily be called a one hit wonder.
