New eye opening video. It's short, but very eye opening. It's easy to see why it confuses defenses.
Indeed, this will slow down the Alabama rush and force them to play us more honest. Too bad we didn't have him last season.

It's going to be rough for many teams on our schedule. Here's the deal SEC defense's are tough and fast but many let their athletisism do the work. If you start throwing different looks at them and if you have the same athletes, chances are you will win many of your match ups.
The previous regime played right into these defense's. This offense once we get everyone on the same page will be tough for these defense's to stop. I'm really excited to see it all work. Guice even said it, if you don't take us seriously we are going to run right over you this year.
LSU can be the most versatile offense in the country this year which is a huge change from previous years so teams WILL NOT know what to do against this new style of LSU offense. You add Aranda to the mix and it's a recipe for huge success. I think we will have a great year this year, yes even in year #1.
I think LSU scores in the 60's and 70's against the cupcakes. All Canada has been missing is a great DC on the other side of the ball so that his offense can shine. Well he has that now, actually he has the best DC in the country hands down. HTT

it won't be a massive change because Canada uses traditional power run game schemes and formations. he also doesnt have a set in stone philosophy or scheme because he plays to the strengths of his players rather than forcing players into a scheme( miles).was

It depends on how you define massive change. He's right, at the heart of the play call there won't be a lot of change. LSU will run the ball power style first and foremost.
The difference will be we'll running the same plays out of multiple formations with lots of pre snap motion, which forces a defense to play the whole field instead of stacking the box, even if they know we're probably running it anyway.
It won't fool Bama, but it will give everyone else fits.

I love what Canada does but some a-hole on tiger rag radio was dogging him today. The guys name is Branson Gaul I think Gaul is his last name for sure not 100% on the first name but positive it starts with a B. Anyway this guy was saying Canada was overrated cause last season was the only real successful season he's had and he was mediocre with a pro QB at nc state. Anyone els hear this guy today or know if he's a credible source? He seemed like a d-bag.

Mediocre is a big stretch. Average would be more applicable. NCST isn't packed with talent year in and year out and it's well-known that their HC meddled with Canada's offense. His season at Pitt is all the evidence I need to validate Canada's play calling.
Pittsburgh ppg:
2015: 28.2
2016: 40.9
Nathan Peterman completion percentage:
2015: 61.5
2016: 60.5
Peterman yards per attempt:
2015: 7.3
2016: 9.3
Peterman attempts per game:
2015: 24.2
2016: 23.5
Peterman TD/INT:
2015: 20/8
2016: 27/7
Yards per rush:
2015: 4.77
2016: 5.40
Rushing touchdowns/attempts per game:
2015: 19/39.15
2016: 36/41.69
68th best scoring offense in 2015 to the 10th best in 2016. Canada maximized their talent in a big way through play design/play calling and will do the same here.

It’s about players, not about plays,” said Canada, who was introduced as LSU’s new offensive coordinator Wednesday afternoon. “Our system is very easy. It’s very easy to learn. We find a way to teach it in a way the kids understand it and they believe it.”
quote:
Canada is a “players not plays” coach. At every stop he’s adapted his offense to the personnel. Whether it’s a fully-fledged spread-option attack, a downhill power-run unit, or somewhere along that spectrum, Canada has done it all.
quote:
Conceptually, Canada runs a smashmouth-spread system: Emphasizing the run, unloading the box through spread formations, and running traditional power-running concepts.

Pro Style Spread is an Oxymoron!
Pro Style or old Pro Set QB is under Center. Spread QB is in the Shotgun.

A lot of it is still power running but it will be a massive change. The entire playbook will have been completely thrown out the window. Canada's offense at Pitt, while still being power run oriented, was vastly different from anything we've ever seen LSU run.
I'm not a sunshine pumper but I'm not a pessimist either. Canada will improve the offense and open up the field a lot more than we're used to.

no it won't. he will use traditional power run concepts. the only massive difference will be pre snap.
and again, Canada molds his offense around the the players. he isn't gonna come in to a team that's been built as a downhill run team try to run wide open spread attacks.
Matt Canada has said his scheme won't be hard to pick up.

we aren't talking about play calling. of course the plays will be different but our philosophy and scheme will still be power run 1st and foremost.

you can have a prostyle spread qb that actually does take snaps under center and then also runs a zone read spread concepts.

Ensminger ran the Spread in the Bowl Game. He ran Trips right and left and the I formation.

no it won't.
Yes, it will be. It won't be so predictable. That's a massive change.
