#LSU catcher Brock Mathis and pitcher Will Ripoll have entered the NCAA transfer portal, sources tell The Times-Picayune.

Mathis started 40 games at catcher this season.

Not really surprised, I did like Ripoll though.

I wish baseball had a better name for this. It’s like super mario brothers.

I agree, but he is a coach's son. Mainieri isn't pushing him out like he did to Reid. Hal should be smart enough to see that he will likely enjoy the remainder of his baseball career much more at a smaller school rather than getting railed by SEC pitching for two more years.

People, you can’t cut Hughes at this point considering it’s a position of need. We can cut Mathis and Ripoll because we are overstocked at the position.

If these two find a new home, which with Mainieri wishing them luck in their future endeavors it looks like they will, we are at 38/35.

I realize ragging on Mathis is the in thing to do right now, but I'll thank him for his effort and wish him nothing but the very best. Thank you sir!

Never got to see much from Ripoll, but good luck to him too.

Side note: BMiller also says transfer walk-on QB is set to transfer again. He came from Tenn Tech and now looks to move on.

Hughes knows if he transfers out he'll never get another chance to play again!

Absolutely. There has to be a few small school studs looking to transfer to a big-time program for a year or two. There are always a few entering the portal in football.
