Seventeen died in a shooting at a bar west of Johannesburg. Ten more were killed in a Cape Town suburb.
Eight armed men, reportedly with AK-47s and pistols, stormed a bar in Wedela, west of Johannesburg. They opened fire on patrons outside and inside. Before fleeing in two cars, they searched witnesses, took their phones, and set two vehicles on fire.
In a separate attack early Sunday in Lwandle, a Cape Town suburb, South African police said 10 people were killed and 11 wounded.
Gunmen entered an entertainment venue and opened fire. Five died at the scene. Five more died of their wounds in hospital. Eleven injured are receiving treatment.
The motives are still unknown.

A crowded bar is an ideal target for men with guns and lousy aim. WIth that crowd, almost every bullet was bound to hit somebody.
