Sorry if this has been discussed. I did do search but didn't go back too far. It seems to me Katz has fallen behind in the count so much lately. He always swings at first pitch and pitchers have been going off speed alot on him on first pitch. Not that he isn't still a great player but maybe if he sits back and works the count a little more he could start to improve his power numbers again. That being said, I know Katz being aggressive at plate is just his style of batting.

He's hitting well over .350 I don't think he's doing anything wrong at the plate. Stop being a knee-jerk fan.

What the hell is the hand over the helmet thing? That's totally screwing him up.

Bench his arse! Obviously struggling with his .350+ average.

Put Jones in his spot.

No but seriously, Jones needs to move up in the lineup. He's hitting better than most of our hitters in the SEC.

I notice he doesn't hit a lot of balls into DP either and even when he's out on a hit it's usually crushed. He was getting all sorts of unlucky at the beginning of the year. He kept crushing balls right to fielders. It was only a matter of time before it started to go his way. Worst case scenario you get a guy who strikes out a lot and can be inconsistent at times. At least he would add more power at the top of the lineup and his batting average in the SEC is shockingly great.

Not really sure where you put him but he definitely needs to be batting either at the very bottom of the lineup like an extra leadoff hitter or at least let him swing the bat before Ross...

Almost seems like his at bats are wasted sometimes. Mushing Jones between Ross/Stevenson seems kinda silly, IMO.

Benching worked for jacoby.

Maybe we should just leave jones where he's at and hopefully he will keep crushing the ball

What worked for JaCoCo was him switching his technique.

I'm texting Coach Mainieri as we speak.

Thanks for the insight

He doing something wrong obviously if his BA drops 65 points in the last month

Everybody looks at stats.. That's cool and all but what has he done lately. I'm not hating on the guy as I stated. He's a really good player. But he's been in a little slump. 4 RBIS and no homers since MSU I believe. Not talking about taking him out of line up but maybe just taking a little different approach. I mean everybody wanted jacoby to take different approach because he struck out too much.

I would like to see him run hard to first on a ground out...a couple times this weekend, he has been out because he didn't seem to run because he knew he would be out...take the throw from third tonight...if he runs full speed, he likely beats the throw.

I thought that happened last night as well on a ball hit in deep in hole. Might be mixing games up though.

His HR numbers were encouraging early and it probably raised expectations that he would hit for power the entire year. I am not surprised that he didn't continue at his early pace but I am somewhat surprised that he hasn't connected for anything deep in so long.
The college game in general needs a little more offense. Small ball is not very appealing and it's exciting when someone hits a dinger. Plus, everyone digs the long ball.

Exactly. Of course his BA is going to drop eventually. .450 was unsustainable.

I'll take this thread with a grain of salt and be happy that we are doing so well that Mason Katz's batting is our biggest complaint....
