IMO baseball averages should be reset about midseason (I know too radical would never happen). Kind of like how they show the averages in the post season. My thinking is the first half of the season you have certain players carrying your team and some guys struggling (Jacoby). As long as you're winning it doesn't matter how much that guy is struggling. Then midway through the season the guy that was struggling is tearing it up and people carrying the team through the first half cool off. I guarantee if Katz would've started the season the way he has played since the Kentucky series, people wouldn't be so forgiving of him. They only are now because when he comes up to bat they see .360 BA 13 HR 60+RBI. Vice versa for Jacoby.

I couldn't agree more. I don't understand how Batting Average is most people barometer of whether a player is good or not. It was the same situation with Laird batting average early in the season. Having said that, Katz is the man though and he will get hot right when we need him to. Hope so at least.

Just calculated because I'm a loser and don't have anything better to do right now.
In the last month (since beginning of Arkansas series), Katz is batting .220 with just 3 RBI 0 HR.

I notice he doesn't hit a lot of balls into DP either
