I feared dinardo era again if miles left but guess what we're here now and it's time for change. I say this as a long time supporter and defender of miles. Many times I've thrown many of his stats out to defend him

What did Les achieve prior to LSU that made him head and shoulders above all other coaches? How can anyone look at his pre LSU accomplishments and conclude that any other coach with the same accomplishments wouldn't have succeeded at LSU as Les has? I cannot fathom why people are so absolutely terrified of losing Les when he had never won anything before coming here. By using this logic LSU would have won every game with a more proven coach.

I tend to agree with what you posted.

My biggest concern is where exactly is Les miles in all this?
Is he ready to quit?
Has his fire burned out?
Is he having health problems?

Hard to imagine 3 weeks ago he was 2 in the nation.

Id like to hear him get real about the situating and tell everyone wtf is going on instead of his typical bs gibberish.

Oh, but LSU will lure in a top coach, right? Everyone wants to come here, right? Let me throw out a few names for you - Clancy Pendergast, Bob Shoop, Kirby Smart. Ring any bells? Yeah, these were the top DCs that were being thrown around this board this time last year. Because what DC wouldn't want to come to LSU, right? All the talent, the strong defensive tradition, etc. In fact, one of the local news reporters even published an article stating that LSU was in talks with Kirby Smart.
This paragraph shows that you're an idiot with no clue of what you're talking about. You're a fool if you don't understand that we had to settle for Kevin Steele because of the fact that: 1. Les' seat was already heating up and he was aging 2. The structure of the DC's contract which doesn't guarantee too much right now considering Alleva has obviously been tightening up to clean house if Miles needs to go and 3. The fact that they had to retain all of LSU's current assistants and not bring any of their own guys

Those 3 stipulations thin the herd by a LOT. You're an idiot if you think our head coaching hire would be similar in any way

Texas waited way to long to get rid of Mack.

USC got caught with a really good coach wanting to go to the NFL. Pete made USC and they fell back to where they were when he left.

We will not be any worse than we have been the last 4 years and stand a chance to be significantly better. We are trending hard in the wrong direction.

I give Les props for all he has done for LSU
but "ITS TIME TO MOVE FORWARD".

That goes back to my point. They better have a home run hire in place already

Following 21-0, we've had the following finishes:

2012 - 2nd in the West
2013 - 3rd in the West
2014 - 4th in the West and unranked
2105 - 4th in the West at the moment and unranked

I don't know if you've spotted the trend, but it's not good. He's not a top level coach now. He's 1-3 in his last 4 bowl games too. He had a great run, but his team has totally collapsed for the 2nd year in a row at the most crucial time. We got manhandled by Ole Miss after getting tossed around like rag dolls against Bama and Arkansas. The amount of penalties and lack of urgency when down multiple scores each game is very eye opening. And calling timeout down multiple scores with seconds left for the 2nd week in a row makes me wonder if he has mentally checked out.

I agree, people don't remember when we were excited to get an invite to play in the Independence Bowl

I totally agree with you. The only difference that I would say between les and them is the recruiting side of it. Les is (was) lined up to sign his best class at LSU. The one big thing that hurt both of those guys is the recruiting dropped off as well.

Two things...Les Miles's future at LSU is the main reason we couldn't lure a better DC.

Secondly, your post proves exactly why LSU needs to act now. Texas, USC, Florida State under Bowden had all hit extremely low levels before they finally made a move. Because of that those jobs were not very attractive to an elite coach. Right now this is a very talented team with a highly ranked recruiting class. We have not hit rock bottom so an elite coach will be interested potentially. I'm not saying we will definitely get one but the state of our program is not near where Texas and USC were at. Don't make a move now and we hire a mid major coach aka Curly Hallman. Those are risky...sometimes they pan out and sometimes they don't. We need to respectfully transition Miles out but at the same time honor him in all he has done to contribute to a great decade plus of LSU football. He's not the same Les that he was in 2007. It happens to all of us. Sometimes we just lose our edge.

OP is dead on right. Unless you have a sure fire top notch HC in waiting you shouldn't fire Miles. If you settle on a long shot the first week in January then things could get real ugly

So you think LSU is not an elite college football program and that Les Miles is irreplaceable. Got it.

Dude, this is Louisiana you are talking about. You are also talking about a guy that hired two football coaches that went a combined 13-90. Who had the LAX fiasco, who hired a baseball coach that lost 100 more games than he won and got in trouble for giving his players steroids. This same guy made a brilliant decision out boating one day that led to his son being arrested for operating a boat while intoxicated.

Joe Alleva, our Savior.
