Yup, Cinci is a decent northern city. Despite what many who are stuck in Louisiana think it’s pretty good. I lived there for a couple years and enjoyed it. One of the better places I’ve lived.

I totally agree. The proximity to Northern Kentucky gives it a feel somewhat of a southern city due to the makeup of the population. It's much different from Columbus or Cleveland. The people are friendly and fun loving. Mike Fink's on the river was my favorite place for seafood while it was still operating and the Montgomery Inn has some killer BBQ.

Just an observation about cities. People with the kind of money Freeman will be making aren’t living in the same city you and I are. With lots of money, the cache of being DC at LSU and instant celebrity, Baton Rouge will be a great place to live.
Schools are a problem, of course. Again, money can solve that problem in a hurry.
So Baton Rouge quality of life with a few million in the bank ought to be measure up to where he is now. South Bend? Different world not different place.

And in direct comparison in BR to South Bend the idea that South Bend is all like the Notre Dame campus is just wrong. It isn't one big idyllic town. I've been there many times, my father was a player and alum of Notre Dame (he's long since passed). South Bend maybe used be somewhat close to that. But it, just like BR, has plenty of no-go areas. It's crime rate has soared. Just like BR, it has shite areas, really really frigging nice areas, and the campus is great. BR and South Bend are very comparable.

To be honest the biggest difference maker I could see is the people Freeman will have to talk to at ND vs. LSU. During his interview at ND the Holy Cross (catholic order, not school) reps will be involved along with the athletic side (obviously). To some that could be off-putting to necessarily have to talk to a Father about a job as a coach. But not Freeman being a practicing Catholic. He'll likely get some questions about ethics and developing players character, but again for Freeman not an issue. But that's where he'll see a difference between ND and LSU.

He would only be here a year anyway. Lets move on.

My son lives in Cincinnati. He likes it, but he misses home.

Some of you have a very strangely mirage-like view of Baton Rouge. As someone that grew up there most of my life and went to LSU for a couple of degrees, it’s turned into a shithole.
St. George is up and coming. He can live there.

Well, that's a shitty place. Cincy is only a few miles from Dayton though.
Well, even if it's shitty, it's home.... BR is a shitty place to.

I believe the majority are impatient and wanted a decision directly following the interview.. IDk about you but I've always been given a 24-48 hour deadline to make a decision after the interview process.
That's a big move from Cincy to BR esp. during a pandemic. Despite how much the pay is.
Lets all hope and pray we get Marcus Freeman but also respect his decision.

Didn’t know this, but he’s really close with Luke Finkell. Apparently, Finkell is one of his kids’ godfather

I lived in Cincy. I grew up in Louisiana, but graduated college at Miami University (Ohio) just north of Cincy. U of C is crap ugly if you ask me. Almost a clone of University of Houston. I went a semester to Houston, because I moved around because of job.
Just my opinion.

Their seafood isn’t like Louisiana’s. Most food up there is quite bland (except for the German food). Their Chili, of which they are very proud, is the worst I’ve ever tasted. It’s like unseasoned tomato sauce!

I mean did we expect him to just accept and not go back home to talk with his family and people close with him?
Most people complaining about this are dumbasses. You need to realize most on this board, at least on the Rant and the like do jobs like build scaffolding and similar construction jobs.
They don't understand anything, but more money. Most on here remind me of my cousin who is looking for a new job every other month because he is always chasing a dollar or two raise and the better per diem. Aint got a put to piss in but he is getting $120 a day this week for per diem and if you question him on it, you can suck it.

I live here, so I don’t even know who the competition is. 24/7?

And with the benefit of hindsight, do you feel the same about Joe Brady’s ONE year?

Freeman should take this job because he’s set up like Joe Brady was. Brady came in for one year with an NFL all-rookie offense returning - 5 #1 draft choices.
Similarly, Freeman would be following up a lousy defensive year. Anything he does would look good by comparison. Plus, the two top corners in college football, Roy and Ojulari give him four superstars. He’ll also have great depth on the defensive line and at corner, and he’ll have Maason Smith and Derrick Davis (who I think is going to be a day 1 starter at safety.
Freeman could serve one year then pick his head coaching job in the Power 5 conference teams that are looking next year.
