which we play almost exclusively with 4 LBs. People love to leave that part out as well.
This really isn't a big deal as far as numbers go thought. Arden Key and Chaisson would be DE's in a 4 man front. Arden was a DE until we switched schemes. The problem was our players didn't fit the 3-4 scheme yet which is why Aranda played a lot of 4 man fronts his first year here.

Likely the same people that lost their minds after the Troy game and said that 5-7 was our ceiling
I would say everyone had a very good reason to be concerned after that game. We just lost by 30 to state and then we lose to Troy. It is NEVER ok for LSU to do either one of those.

Being concerned is 1 thing. Freaking out like it's the end of the world is another. Anybody that followed the team knew we were down 3 linemen in those games and a linebacker or 2. We got guys healthy, got Gilmore back from suspension and got it going. 5-7 never even crossed my mind because I knew how valuable the guys we had out were to that team.

Brilliant! It could be on O, but it just happens anyway and it's out of his control.
Yeah cause coach O is the only one that has ever had this issue ever.

We have a brand new quarterback and a new offensive coordinator. Can we not rush to judgement until we actually lose a game?

For someone who billed himself as a motivator and recruiter, that should never be a problem for him or his team, especially in the SECOND GAME OF THE SEASON and the first home game.

I get what you're saying, but you also need to realize that any team in America could play in the SEC West this year and open against the #8 ranked team in the country and end up with an 8-4 record.
Yeah, you want to label everyone as accepting "mediocrity". Those of us who are more rational and have less of an axe to grind realize what's really going on. I don't blindly think O is the greatest coach ever to walk a sideline, but arbitrarily saying that finishing 8-4 this season would prove he can't coach is stupid.
There's a reason coaches aren't necessarily beating down the door to come to the West. Mullen took off for UF, A&M broke the bank to grab Jimbo, and now you've got Luke, Moorhead and Morris. Who????? you ask. Correct. And we've got O. He'll get it done or he won't, but accusing the fanbase of accepting mediocrity at 8-4 this season is disingenuous at best.

It's also one thing to not melt about everyone and another to defend losing by 30 to Mississippi State and losing to Troy. Yes the defense was missing players but the offense played like trash. I don't care how good states dline was. You don't lose by 30 to them and you don't lose to Troy. Ever.
And honestly I could have seen that team go 7-5 or 6-6. Good news is that they turned it around and did better then people thought.

Again cause someone who is a great motivator never has this issue.
Come on man your just finding something to complain about. That game doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things

Nobody is concerned because they think our lackluster offensive performance is going to keep us out of the CFP. People are concerned that it could be a sign of things to come. This isn’t hard to understand.
Had we put up 400 yards of offense against Miami, people wouldn't be so concerned, but we've had two underwhelming offensive performances.

We both know this place over reacts to everything. If anything happens that they don't like they are going to be concerned and yell it from the mountain tops and then come up and stick to the worst possible scenario.
Did I like what I saw Saturday? No I didn't. But I also thought that whatever happened in that game wouldn't matter at all.
If we score 55 points against Southeastern but only score 10 against Auburn no one would care how good we looked the week before.
It's just the flavor of the week this week. Nothing more. Now like I said though if we lay an egg against Auburn I'll be with y'all cause this game actually matters and there will be no room for excuses.

I certainly didn't defend it. I've just been around team sports long enough to know that 1 or 2 games don't define a team. I knew our D would be okay once we got those guys back. I knew our O would improve with time because new systems take time.

Agreed. Could last saturday been a product of the team not getting up for an FCS team? Yes. Is it concerning that the OL has looked incapable of protecting the QB in two games? Yes. We'll know a lot more after Auburn, but my fear is our offensive problems will continue against a good defense.

No we haven't, and that's an idiotic thing to say. But threads like these don't surprise me from posters like you who seemingly thought, that an original thought had popped into your brain.

Star,
It must be so nice to have become an LSU fan in the early 2000s and never had to go through the Hallman, Dinardo or first year of Saban. Sorry 9-10 wins are not enough for you, but Saban and Meyer are not going anywhere and nobody else has consistently met your (unreasonable) expectations over the last 20 years in all of college football. Perhaps Herman (nope), Sumlin (nope), C Kelly (nope), B Kelly (nope) Spurrier after Washington (nope), Fisher (nope), Kiffen (nope), Mullen (lost to KY), Muschamp (nope), anybody at TN/TX (nope), Harbaugh (nope) and now Petrino (nope).
Lincoln Riley and Frost are the only two I can think of and neither of them are leaving their jobs to come deal with this fan base in the most difficult division in all of football.
Who else do you have in mind besides Belichick? Sure he’d love to work for this fan base.

He has reloaded the QB recruiting pipeline.
He got one transfer to come to LSU...ONE.
I'm not gonna look it up, but if I'm not mistaken, o hasn't done a damn thing to restore a QB pipeline.. The two quarterbacks that signed with LSU since o has been the head coach, gave their verbal commitments while Miles and Cameron were still here. As a matter of fact, o damn near lost both of them when he offered a scholarship to the kid from Hawaii that's the bama QB now.
Unless you're calling walk ons a pipeline.

LSU quite literally was elite when O took over. Miles was fired for LSU being out the playoff talk before october.
There were losses to the 2016 roster obviously but the 2017 roster still had 50 blue chippers. thats a staggering 2/3 of the roster.
