You can say the title is hyperbole, but it’s not for me. I will pretty much know where we are as a program after this game and most of the people who are realist will too.

Just think of what we have here ok. We have a Mississippi state team that isn’t good. I mean, they aren’t a good team, we know this about them. They lost to Memphis who gave up 50 to Arkansas state. They should have lost to tech and they had hell scoring on nc state.

Last year was such a weird year with the new defense being implemented on zoom calls and shite like that. We didn’t even have a zone defense ready for the start of last year. We also lost a ton, but it was really like a 7-5 type year, we know we would have won two of the three games we didn’t get to play and who knows what the bowl game would have been and if we would have won that or not. Texas would have beat us at the beginning of the year though.

So my point is that we had a down year but it was expected somewhat especially with bo not having our d ready.
Saturday will tell us if we have a d coordinator that is capable of watching last years film ,seeing what we did wrong, and coming up with a gameplan to fix what was wrong with the gameplan last year. I say this because we know that leach won’t change his plan , he will stand there and make a mark on that tiny little flash card every time he runs one of his 5 plays and just hope we don’t change anything from last year.
Dudes got 5 plays for zone and 5 plays for man lol

The scary thing is that if we go there and run our same man coverage from last year and get beat pretty bad, or at all really , then we will already know that we’re trending down, for sure this time, and that daronte isn’t the guy. That goes for the man in charge as well

It’s incredibly important to win this game. It could literally be the most important game of coach os his career , job security wise

Only in that if he loses he is done here. Winning this simply gets him to the next test this season. Not sure I'd call this one the most important besides it being next in the schedule.

LSU obviously isn’t a national contender this year but this game can help change the direction of the year and the program. You win this and beat a solid auburn team, you have a lot of build on. You lose to a bad State team and the whole ship sinks

State is the worst sec west team. If we lose, we will likely be in that spot. If we win, we won’t be.

So at least we’ll know that.

Basically every game is the most important game until it's mathematically impossible to lose more than, I'd say 3 games but maybe 4. 5 is absolutely toast.

A loss and he is done quickly. A close high scoring win and it probably means the same season as last year. A blowout could mean great things. I’m very nervous, and I don’t have high hopes

Instead of that lengthy post that no one will read, you could have just stated it’s Survival Saturday for LSU and our head coach.

Oh I agree I’m just saying , if he loses it shows that the people he hired aren’t competent. I like daronte but if he runs the same d as we rand against state last year it will end orgeron and jones

It really is incredible that this game means this much. More than anything though it will tell us if we aren’t any better than last year and if that’s the case then o won’t make it and if o don’t make it then nobody will be retained

With me its how you win...if they win in a shootout because they can't stop the crossing routes the season is done...

If they win by double digits and only a couple of blown coverages and show more improvement then there is a chance for 10 wins...

If someone can’t read a post of a few paragraphs then they probably wouldn’t have an opinion worth stating.

What’s the point of this board if people just start threads saying it’s survival Saturday for team and coach . That’s not witty or thought provoking at all

Good thing we have Stingley healthy on one side and a more experienced Ricks on the other side. So I will be willing to bet, Miss. State does NOT throw for over 600 yards Saturday.

If LSU loses back to back years to a bad Miss State team then Ed O needs to start packing his bags

Think this Game will get Ed O's coaching seat cooler or will start the fire to remove him.

What’s the point of this board if it’s not made clear what’s at stake this weekend? I don’t know if I’m going to want O gone or not, I do know this game means a lot. How prepared will O have his players and staff for this game?
That’s what most fans are wondering.

This is the most likely. We will likely blow a coverage once. Also , if we go into Saturday with the gameplan of sitting on everything then they will hit us with a double move once at least. They will hit us with a draw to the halfback once or twice. We’re gonna give up one or two wheel routes to the halfback. If so, we will give up a wheel route stop aka back shoulder throw on a wheel route.

Put all that together and we are ok, as long as all those don’t happen 2 or 3 times then we win. We will score more than tech,or close to it , I say we score 38-41 points. They score 17-21 points

I say final score 38 -24

We will win by 2 tds and a field goal or two something around that. Bookmark this

You misread what I meant, I’m saying if we run all man coverage again, even IF it’s not working and we don’t adjust then that’s enough to ruin the season. I don’t think we will do that though.

It wasn’t necessarily the players last year, it was not having the zone defense ready to go. Stingley could have helped but he wouldnt have been enough to win.

You have to rush with the 4 man front and occasionally blitz a backer with a zone that drops everyone besides those 4 or 5 guys into a matchup zone

About the defense I was just thinking that this game is capable of showing tdecline . Surely dj isn’t dumb and realizes you can’t use the same defense as last year.

Isn’t daronte a zone defense guy? If so that’s a good test

If the UCLA loss paralleled the loss to Wisconsin in 2016, then this could be Orgeron's Auburn game in 2016.

Les was given the benefit of the doubt going into 2016 that he would fix things following a disappointing 2015 season in which he was almost fired. That optimism was dashed vs. Wisconsin when it was clear he had not changed at all from 2015. He then went to Auburn and lost in a quintessential Les Miles game. His team had multiple opportunities to either get buried or bury the opponent throughout the game only to get to a 4th quarter nail biter. After giving up the lead late, his team responded with a great do or die drive only for it to devolve into chaos at the end with the difference between winning and losing resting on the razor's edge. After that, it was confirmed Les was NEVER going to change and LSU decided to move on.

Perhaps to a lesser extent, if LSU gets shredded on defense like they did vs. State in the opener last season it will confirm O is unable to fix the issues and the time to move on is near (even though I don't think he would be fired after a loss).

On the other hand, a win would show at least SOME degree of progress from last season going into a big month of October and give LSU some hope that this could be more like the 2017 season when LSU unexpectedly beat Florida and Auburn after getting smashed by MSU and losing to Troy.
