man we fricking had the young prodigies in Aranda and Brady. These guys CHANGED the game. Were willing to adapt and were loved by the players... if we end up with Bo fricking Pelini I'm gonna be pretty pissed... I wont be pissed now because we just won the natty! and I refuse to let anything bring me down until week one....

Dave Aranda has been coaching since 1995. Bo Pelini has been coaching since 1991.

Ohio State has the #1 total defense this year and their DC is 70 years old.

I don’t give a shite how old they are as long as the defense performs.

I'm not talking about age per say. Use a little critical thinking next time.

I wonder how much Bo will change the defensive scheme. I seem to remember him being a 4-3 guy but that was a long time ago.

Just curious how much of a change he would be compared to Aranda.

Seems like you are.

Nick Saban isn’t young, he wins at a pretty good rate. Bill Belicheck and Andy Reid aren’t young, they do just fine.

Here’s a little advice for you:

I was pissed when LSU hires Orgeron. Look how that turned out. I don’t know if Pelini will be hires here as DC or not, but I know this, his defenses at LSU were always dominating and fun to watch. Nebraska hasn’t come close to winning since he left. If he is hired, he’ll have my support.

I Would be against hiring pelini. He was great for us then. Sec is a much better offensive conference now with teams going to the spread. Just do not think he would be what he was for us back then.

Bo was a much different person at LSU just being DC than he was at Nebraska as HC. Sure he is loud and animated but he always was under control.

And you think he would make he exact same defensive calls he did back then?

Sean Payton was head coach of the Saints when Bo Pelini was at LSU. Should the Saints fire Payton because he’s not young enough anymore?

Guess what? Les and Bo tied into it about the fourth game into the season right after the game. Didn't wait to get to the locker room. Things worked out. You know, men to argue from time to time.

As for Canada, well, looked what happened to that bastard after one season....

1. The phrase you’re looking for is “per se”.
2. I don’t believe I gave you either guy’s age? Pelini is actually about 10 years older than Aranda, but because of his NFL career they started coaching at about the same time. In fact, Bo Pelini got his first DC job 2 years before Aranda.
3. Bo is hungry for “nothing”? I mean, both guys have won a national championship as DC. The only difference is that Pelini already tried to be a power 5 head coach.
4. Is this the type of critical thinking you think I should use?:
quote:

frick the old guard of coaches. The get complacent and set in their ways. We can see what young guns that are hungry can do... what is Bo fricking hungry for.... NOTHING. But I trust O. But in my head that's a shite HIRE

You don’t think he saw a spread offense while in the FCS? Sure the talent level isn’t close, but it’s the same game. Pelini is not stupid and LSU is loaded with talent. He would do just fine.

Well he managed the #1 scoring defense in the country, coaching in the Big 12 against Mike Gundy, Lincoln Riley, Art Briles, Mike Leach, and Tom Herman.

Is the OP based on your personal experience with CEO and CBP? Or are they just people on TV you think you know

Pelini won a natty here and was known for having very good defenses. He's A hell of a defensive coordinator. Saban frickin hired him here? Is that not good enough for yall? He hand picked him matter of fact. Bo is just not a head coach and there is nothing wrong with that. He had one of the most talented defenses ever here at LSU in 2003 and where our program is now, he will be even more successful. He's a damn good coach and he will be a strong hire. I trust o and his decision making but even despite that, it's a good hire. The man can flat out coach defense.

Pretty sure you’re thinking about Muschamp...

He didn’t coach the 03 Defense. He wasn’t even here then but he did manage to turn one of our most talented defenses into a leaking sieve.

Don't worry. CEO has the authority to hire and to fire if it doesn't work out.

I was concerned about Pelini's hothead personality too, but Marlon Favorite was on the radio tonight giving his former coach a very high recommendation. I am okay with this. Besides, we won one National Championship with him as DC.

Yes, it would be horrible to hire the man responsible for our outstanding defense from 2005-2007.
