Played like a 5 foot receiver, averaged 6 drops a game, poor route running, couldn't get off the line when challenged.
You say all that shite, but then think one more year getting college coaching would have done wonders for him? If he had that much wrong with him after 3 years playing, 2 and a half years starting, what would you think staying another year would do? Let him get NFL coaching like Danielle Hunter did.
They talked about how athletic and great Hunter was, but he was developed poorly at LSU. Rarely got sacks at LSU. In his 3rd year in the NFL he had a 10 sack season. Maybe Dupre can finally get the right coaching to improve himself. My thinking was 3rd-4th round at best after what he did this year, so I'm not surprised. People surprised that Kupp and Henderson went before him don't pay attention to much football outside of LSU. Coming back next year he would have been out shined by guys like Chark and Drake Davis.

The talent is there. Too me the work ethic is not. There was a video of him working out on routes when Etling got the starter job. Dupree was half assing it. Dupree has the tools:size, speed, jumping ability. The thing that separates the good from the great is the work ethic. How many times did we see OBJ AND Jarvis Landry working on their skills? A bunch they challenged each other and it payed off. Dupree if he gets the chance and I do believe he will he better work his arse off if he wants to make it in the NFL.

This has nothing to do with Etling. Malachi Dupre had a serious case of the drops throughout his career. Also, if you look at his route running, well it isn't the best. His blocking is average.
So exactly why are blaming Etling? Dupre NEEDED another year to sell himself. These kids all think they should go just because they are a junior. Wrong.

And these agents they hire promise them the world. These young college guys need to get advice from teams about their chances and not these agents. Just sad to me.

Look guys, he just isn't very good. He's weak, not a blazer, and doesn't have consistently good hands. Not to mention he won't ever get off the LOS in the pros. Jamb him and he's done. The scouts see it..... That's why he ain't getting picked

I think almost everyone had a WTF? moment when he declared. As most have said, even coming back he would have a hard time getting catches with what we have this year. But if anything that should have been wake up call. You don't go up a level because you can't beat the guys you're playing with now. Honestly, the jump in talent is so extreme he'll have to bust it HARD to make a roster and I don't know if he has that in him. I will always wish him the best and I do hope he will find a way to end up a highly paid superstar. Talent doesn't mean sh!t in a league filled with maximum talent. Work ethic and fight is what makes stars in the NFL.

He did absolutely nothing in college to suggest he was capable of a 1,000 yard season or signing for millions of dollars. He was probably gonna get passed up by Davis and Anderson anyway.

Yep I agree. Jarvis Landry is the perfect example here. Not a blazer, doesn't have great size but that mofo works his arse off. Jamal Adams has all the tools and works his arse off and it paid off. Number 6 pick overall

Good thing you stopped, cause you were about to spell it wrong

Agreed. Dupre's best season was this past one. He was decent before but he had a case of the drops. That's not a rip on him, he just dropped many passes. I blame Cam for that.
Look how fast he turned his game around once Ensminger took over the OC position. He lit it up in that bowl game.
He would've benefited from staying his senior year but these agents pounce on potential good to great kids and know that they (the agents) are going to get a cut if they go pro and sign.
These are young kids and all they see are $ signs. Who can blame them but it isn't fair to them for agents to take advantage of them but that's the pros, I guess.
Still wish him the best.
Always a Tiger.

The agent was probably the only one in his life telling him it might benefit him to stay. The less money he makes, the less the agent makes. The agent isn't benefitting by telling him to leave when it's likely he'll go low or undrafted. Sometimes I think you guys are just looking for a reason to avoid blaming a player's own poor judgment.

Yeah, I'm sure no one else but the agent told him it would benefit him to stay. The agent gets paid regardless once the player declares. And I highly doubt that Malachi is the only player this agent represents. So he's out to get paid.
Huh?
If someone of weight told you that given your work experience background, could land you another job where you'd make more money than you'd imagine, and it was a legit offer, you wouldn't consider it?
Maybe it was poor judgment but that doesn't make the kid a bad kid (which is sort of what you were insinuating). The agent promising him everything is the bad guy. Like I said, the agent makes out fine, Malachi, maybe not so much.
Such is the transition to the pros, I guess.

We had 8 threads bashing Miles for wasted talent yesterday, wonder if we can top that in the next two days.

So called experts and agents are telling these guys they will go in the first or early second round- it strokes their ego and makes them think they are as great as they believe themselves to be.
How do you convince a player like Dupre he is not ready?
Those big dollar signs and that famous lifestyle is floating in front of them and most are not patient enough to wait another year.
The NFL (which includes owners, current players and yes those who buy tickets) could really care less about the Dupre's in the draft.

Yes I would like to have seen him in our new O . He will be a steal for some team.

He had a good bowl game but underachieved at LSU.
Because he was in an archaic offensive system ran by two boobs. Because he was poorly coached. Because he had awful quarterbacks. I'm amazed that receivers stayed motivated at all. I'm even more amazed that WRs kept choosing LSU.
He made a poor decision choosing LSU with Miles at the helm.
