BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday approved the expansion of the baseball hitting facility at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. The project will add 4,300 square feet of space to the facility, including a 3,500 square-foot weight room.

Construction on the facility, located just beyond the right-field wall of the stadium, is scheduled to begin on June 1, and it will be completed in August 2019. The project is fully funded through private donations to the Tiger Athletic Foundation.

Why does every sport need their own weight room?

Need a berm. Open that back part of the outfield up. Bleachers are just not great.

When you win and bring in a profit, do what you want. Instead of the other 75% of our programs that bring in no profit and get new facilities and upgrades.

I'm all for facility upgrades to bring in better athletes, but profiting sports should have priority.

Nothing to do with training and everything to do with competing for recruits. It creates a clubhouse environment where they can go to the facility and have everything they need from entertainment to food to training to tutoring.

Goes back to Saban who said that Football had to have its own Weight Room. Saban set the Standard and now every sport is going to get their own Weight Room.

By all means let’s keep the shitty outfield bleachers no matter what.

Should update Alex box and put chair back all the way down the lines at the very least...

I understand the clubhouse thing. They can have all that stuff minus the weight room. I would think you would take the money from all the weight rooms and build a centralized massive weight room and nutrition center. That way all the expertise is in one location and you can keep that weight room up to date instead of having to update every weight room.

In my opinion the fact is you want each team to develop together physically and mentally. Doing that requires each team to have their own area to do that. I highly doubt guys on the baseball team want to lift with the football players just my thoughts.

Because they make a shite ton of money every year in the AD and have to spend the money somewhere. It's not a bad problem to have. I'd have rather they used it to make aesthetic renovations to Alex Box, but whatever. Although I don't think anyone else in the country has anything like this for baseball.

I understand the football team having their own. They make the most money and they have 100 dudes that have to lift.

I would want to work out with other athletes busting their arse regardless of sport. Motivation

So why not use it to upgrade some academic buildings? They build or renovate a weight room every year.

Because each athlete likes to feel important, on to their news. When is basketball getting renovations on Pmac, and the equipment and everything else, anytime in will wades life time? They sure take long enough
