Mainieri “We’re striking out entirely too much”

Reported by Wilson Alexander in The Advocate. Mainieri noted some strike out more often than others because they are home run hitters. He explained however that LSU’s contact hitters are also striking out. “Guys that are not home run hitters, Mainieri said, “we need to be tougher outs with two strike outs on us.”

As an LSU baseball fan it’s very discouraging. Mainieri clearly sees the problem, yet it’s one he has been unbable to solve over the past two seasons.

We need to beat the shite out of SELU tonight. They're poo. Their starter has an ERA of 11+.

We need to put up a 10 spot in the first inning and get the starters out by the third.

I'm tired of the wasted development opportunities we miss out on by letting these in state poo teams keep it close on us.

He also needs to worry about how they can't come from behind. Once they lose the lead, they fall apart

It's one thing when something doesn't go as planned, like 34 strike outs in a weekend. Bad weekends happen. But when you follow that up with stupid comments like "Minute Maid park did this an that to affect our hitting"...or the garbage above, it really puts it in perspective how useless of a coach he is. "Tough Outs"...how about you get these kids coached up by your new volunteer hitting coach and get them hitting the ball not just being tough outs.

How long have we seen CPM blame players, blame environmental effects and/or blame size or layout of parks?

We need actual coaches coaching. Dunn has a good pitching staff that he's developed and gone through growing pains and surgeries to build. CPM does absolutely nothing, doesn't recruit or coach, we have a head coach that takes up a salary to throw BP. We have an recruiting coordinator taking up a salary position instead of a legitimate hitting coach.

shite we need to give Theriot CPM's salary just so he can come in a punch some MFer in the face and get this team fired up or any sign of life will be nice at this point.

Except for the 4'10 comment, this is a pretty good post. You ruined it though.

Mathis was up with two in scoring position in the 9th, in a game where we were being no hit, and thought it was best to come out of his shoes on his swings.

A single ties the game, chases the starter, and puts the winning run on base. But, he was trying to be the hero. He got a fastball, and missed it.

Kids like Willis aren’t going to improve with an AB every 8 games, he needs consistent in game playing time imo

I’d like to see a Bianco get significant playing time tonight or tomorrow as well

He should give all the back ups playing time the next 2 games. The games don’t matter anyway

Yeah, I was about to put together a lineup I'd like to see against Grambling tomorrow. It would have Willis at 1st, Travnski DHing, and Bianco in LF.

I love the narrative of how great of a coach Dunn is with all arms healthy

This time last season he needed to be thrown in jail for all the injuries due to his negligence according to tRant

It’s statements like this that lead me to believe some of you really dont follow the baseball team very closely. Eddie Smith is an “actual” and “legitimate” hitting coach; he isn’t some random CPM found on the street that’s “volunteering”

If the starters were playing to their potential on the weekends, this wouldn't be sarcasm. It would be the way we should do things (at least for the 2nd game of 2 game week).

Hold up now. The injury issue had to do with the freshman being overworked outside of games. That’s been confirmed and it was 100% on Dunn’s shoulders.

ETA: and the calls questioning his methods didn’t happen till UGA series when we didn’t have half our staff.

There is absolutely zero that he can say right now that would make you guys happy so what is the point of complaining about every little thing he says?

He could say that he found a loophole in the system and was able to get Mike Trout to join the team to help and everyone would still complain that it took this long for him to find that loophole lol.
