the LSU uniform represents something and THEY need to have pride in wearing that uniform. I wonder how much pride he was representing last weekend when he had his head tucked between his legs in the dugout ??

Twitter vid of PM
PM spoke about the tradition of the program & what the uniform represents
The team can either let the loss bring them down or they can go out tomorrow ready to play
He’s trying to motivate
Again, there’s a shite ton to bitch about, him trying to keep the players motivated isn’t one of them

He needs to come out with “People’s jobs are on the line here!”

I like Mainieri, I do. I met him on the diamond at a game during warm ups a few years ago and he was super nice.
With that being said, I'm dumbfounded at our SEC play. We look so bad. I mean not even bad, just terrible. Errors, a lot of walks, that's the start of my frustration.
But we play a 'lesser' team, we look like world beaters.
To be fair, we faced one, of two, incredible pitchers tonight but it's like the other team gets little breaks and we don't. The bad part is we face the other pitcher tomorrow.
It's like the players are overthinking it or something along those lines.
It sure is upsetting to watch. I switched to listening to the radio tonight because watching it was so upsetting..... the radio was no better.
And it's not like we get a 'weaker' SEC team anytime soon.
I don't like to say it but it's true, it starts with the HC. I don't think it's solely on him, I think Dunn deserves a lot of blame as well.
We'll be lucky to go to a regional at this rate, let alone host one. Praying this team can get it turned around. It's sure upsetting to see. Or hear.

He throws his players under the bus as much as any coach I can remember. Is that motivating in your opinion?

CPM’s tone & body language is definitely revealing. I’m not a mind reader but it seems obvious he knows that the end is near and if he’s accepting reality, realizes the chances of becoming competitive in the conference is fading quickly. My guess is he was hoping he could exit on a high note hosting a regional for his swan song but that ship has pretty much sailed. The conference is too strong & his team is just too young. Decent starting pitching but no dependable bullpen and zero clutch hitting against SEC competition. It’s looking like just making a regional (forget hosting) is a long shot at best.

This is what I don’t get, I get bashed for defending him when all I did was post what he actually said
There is plenty to bitch about, why are y’all bitching about him trying to motivate the team & get them prepared for tomorrow?
We got our asses kicked but the season didn’t end tonight
PM will still be head coach tomorrow
At this point I think he will retire at the end of the season
If for some reason he doesn’t I hope he is forced to replace Dunn & Cain
The program is not getting better & while there is plenty of blame to go around it begins & ends with PM
But I’m not going to bash him for trying to motivate the players after the arse kickings they just took

It was 13-1, bro. Lost count of defensive frick ups during the game, most SEC games 6-9 in the order is a black hole, can't win in this league when the back ~ 45% of your order will suck every game, puts immense pressure on pitching from the first pitch, etc. How is this team so bereft of quality all around every day players-not even top tier- especially upper classmen? Vandy's #9 hitter kicked LSU in the nuts all game long, notice I called him hitter not batter. If only 2020 had played out to completion.

You're agreeing with what I posted earlier.
Not trying to get into a big argument.
We looked terrible. We have to do better. We look horrible in SEC play.

He sucks and is another head coach that ends up costs LSU big $$$ to dump.

CPM is just warming up the bus. Buckle up buckaroos.

Told you suckers BEFORE the season started what was coming, yet you rode with "Lesticles" Mainieri. How's that working for ya? Program is a total disgrace.....ENJOY Paul ballers.

JML, you are trying too hard to defend him. Example: Paul’s first year at LSU. He held Senior NIght for the players on a weekday. Even the parents chewed Paul’s arse after the game for that a stunt. But NOW he wants to hold on to the “LSU Tradition”......I call bullish!t on this one.
This are all signs of a guy that fears for his job because he KNOWS that he is not doing a good job.

From my perspective Paul peaked and his best days at LSU are in the past. That's not to say he couldn't wake up and turn things around. All things are possible. If you look at the body of work, however, it would seem that he has hit his ceiling. Right now LSU is that team that was great. All people rise to their level of incompetence. Paul has hit his and has been unable to break through. He's had a long career here and he has done some good things with the program. Good but not great. Sadly this program has fallen to the bottom half of the conference and I'm not convinced CPM can turn it around. Time to thank the players, fans and the university, tip the cap and walk into the sunset. If LSU is going to return to the levels that we have come to expect from the program, a coaching change will be needed.
