The problem wouldn't exist if the best hitter out of the group (McMullen) could consistently play right field. It would allow you to play the hot bat between Laird/Stevenson in CF, and it would open up more options for DH.

exactly what it sounds like Mainieri is trying to avoid

Yeaaah, but having Foster in the OF is really the biggest defensive problem.

I think Laird & McMullen could find a way to make it work out there.

(see below )

Foster obviously made a stupid play diving for that ball on Sunday (so did Laird on Friday), but the thing is that Foster has by far the best arm of the group.

so its agreed? McMullen can stay at RF and we'll keep playing musical chairs at the DH spot with foster and moore?

He must not be something right because he has only started in RF a handful of times since he was inserted in the lineup before UK series.

Someone forward the Official TD Lineup Poll to Coach Pauly D.

My opinion...

Against RHP:
Laird CF
McMullen RF
Moore DH

Against LHP:
Laird CF
McMullen RF/DH
Foster DH/RF

I just dont see Stevenson panning out this year. Its like giving the team an out every AB. Even with Laird's struggles at the plate, he still brings more to the lineup than Stevenson while little to no drop off in CF.

I think McMullen is the superior OF when compared to Foster, but I do like Foster's arm. It is the only one on our team above average (everyone else's is below average). But when it comes down to it, I'd probably stick Foster at DH and keep McMullen in RF.

Foster and Laird also let that ball in the gap go all the way to the wall Saturday by taking terrible angles. It was a rough weekend for those two in the outfield.

I'm late to this party. But how the hell is putting Stevenson into the lineup even on the table at this point?

laird also had the diving whiff

Between Laird,Stevenson,foster and McLovin....they combined for 3 HR's. I don't see the problem.

Fosters diving attempt wasn't all that horrible. It's not like he dove way behind the ball. He dove and it went under his glove, just slightly misjudged it.

What's the deal with schiambra??? Is he hurt, or no longer in the OF mix?

I'm missing your point.
