Coach Maineri usually determines the outcome of a game if he can utilize the mound visit properly. In baseball the mound visit is used like a time out in basketball. It stops the momentum of the other team and gives your pitcher a chance to catch his head. More times than I can count Coach Maineri will leave his pitcher in too long or start taking them out every inning, no matter how well they pitch! I was just wondering if anyone else sees this at games and thinks it is a problem...

you are right, it has nothing to do with the players

Dude, seriously, this is the wrong time to bring this up, we lead the SEC in almost every pitching statistic

Why are so many people bitching about how incredible our pitching staff is?

You're so right. I'm sick of beating the #11 ranked team in the country 2 out of 3 games, winning 2 one-run games on top of that. Winning 2 out of 3 each weekend when you offense isn't scoring runs is horrible.

I say don't use any mound visits and take some batter's box visits.

I dunno, I think what happened is people need something to bitch about with the baseball team bc we aren't winning 10-0 every game. And I think they feel that the hitting problems have been beaten to death on here, so they are trying too hard to bring a new perspective. Anybody who is complaining about the pitching this year needs to be shot.

are you basing this on the fact that Ott came in and saved it?

Also, did u have special privledge to be in the dugout when Mainieri asked Ross if he could go another inning?

innings-wise it was Ross' longest outing, but he had a relatively low pitch count and probably could have gone another inning.

BUT, Ott needs to be put in pressure situations like that as often as possible so as not to affected by them later.

Maineri and his hitting coach should give Leon Landry some extra time to help him become a better hitter. Stikes-out way too much.

I certainly think this is a topic that can be debated. I like Manieri's answer to this though on the postgame. He basically said that it was a very tough call but that he needs to get him in situations like this because he will be placed in them for the remainder of the year. He thought it was a good chance to give the frosh some important time in a big game situation and that if he's going to be the closer, he's going to be in these situations.

I thought that it's up for debate but PM is right, if Ott is going to be our closer down the stretch, these are the games he's going to be placed in and needs the experience come May and June.

The topic in your very first post is a complaint about LSU pitching?

You'll fit in nicely on this board.
