Is Merrifield fast? That was a pretty good bunt for a hit but he just got barely beat by pitcher. Weird to do that with 2 outs and a pitcher struggling unless he has world class speed or something.

Yeah, why bunt with guys on and a struggling pitcher. Almost seemed like we let them off the hook there.

Why not?
If it’s a hit the run from third scores. It also puts pressure on the defense to make the play. Next time he bats, the third baseman will be up closer to the grass and a bouncing ball might get past him.

2 outs vs a pitcher that wasn't exactly fooling our hitters and Merrifield didn't really look like he's a speed runner.
