Mahtook's homer got me thinking again about Box homers...

I guess as of now it's the longest HR in the "new Box's" history...sounded like it was about 450-475 feet. Anyway, Hawthorne had brought up his "furthest homerun hit at the (old) Box" and said it was R. Palmerio's in 1984, which safe to say hardly any of us saw that...much less remember it.
So, what are some of yours at the old Box? I know we've hashed this out before and rehashed it, but it never gets stale...
Mine: (in no certain order)
Jose Cruz, Jr. - Rice in '95 regionals vs. LSU.
Wes Grisham - LSU in '90 regionals vs. Houston (I think it was Houston, but maybe not...but time and place are correct)
Lyle Mouton - LSU (too many to name)
Those are my three that stick out. I know Larson hot many, but I didn't witness many games during the '97 season. Kent State had a batter who hit a grand slam against us in '93 and that thing went a long way. I guess, if I had to admit, Jose Cruz's was just awesome...it went DEEP left center into the section 8 -lookin' apartments. His dad was standing/sitting near the top of the left field foul-line bleachers and was beaming. Cruz single-handedly killed LSU, but that homer was his way of affirming that.
Mouton, of course, dented the scoreboard countless times at the Box.

So far, I have a lot of obvious statements. How about someone who remembers a particular shot?

Mouton and Mahtook both STM grads

In 94 LSU had a reserve outfielder Dwayne Pierce who hit the furthest ball I've seen. I think it was against USL. Hit a line drive that started elevating at the RF wall. I've heard one other guy on here talk about this HR before.

Hawthorne has been horrible.. Last night I was listening to the game while there and a ball hit the ground before going to the plate and on the radio he said it was high and outside. I would be suprised if he hit that further than the Southern player did earlier this year.. That ball landed in the U High field.

In 86 or 87, Joey Belle hit one across Nicholson into the track stadium parking lot. I believe Skip says that's the farthest he's ever seen.

I remember Adrian Antonnie got into one back in the day that almost hit the apartments and I remember Cresse hitting one to straight away centerfield that was still going up when it left the park. Those were just the games I was at though. I'm sure there were many more.

I remember the announcer saying one time that Lyle Mouton, hit one at the college world series that went down the street and end up at the Omaha zoo

The longest one I saw at the Box was hit by Brad Wilkerson of Florida. Hit it right out of right field. It appeared as the ball was still rising when it left the park. Further I have ever seen was hit by Eddy Furniss against SLU in Hammond. The ball didn't start dropping until it was in the pine trees behind the parking lot behind right field.

Jose Cruz Jr. blasted one in a regional out to right field that seemed like it was going over the lights behind the wall. It was probably the furthest shot I've seen at the Box. The height on that ball as it left the field was just unbelievable.

I saw Joey Belle hit a couple of bombs in a game againt La Tech.....but it was @ Tech. The only time I ever saw a couple of balls leave the park that fast, was when my wife caught me at a game with my girlfriend.

Was that the game when I think Richie LeBlanc played for Tech. If I remember right the 2 of them hit 4 or 5 that night and I think Tech won in extra innings. One of Joey's dingers cleared the rr tracks in right field. I was at that game and probably one of the most incredible games I have ever seen first hand.

It was an extra inning game, and I think Tech did win.
