Guys trip to Lambeau next year for LSU/Wisconsin game. Looking for recommendations for either Madison or Milwaukee. Where will the majority of LSU fans stay?

TIA

From what I've read. A lot are staying in Green Bay and some are staying in Chicago the nights before. I haven't seen anyone post about staying in those two cities... Except on guy who thought we were playing in Madison.

ETA: Except that guy above me... I am staying in Green Bay FWIW

I'm in Green Bay but a lot of folks have mentioned Appleton. which is 30 miles southwest.

I've booked hotels in Milwaukee and Madison. I guess we'll make the decision later. Been to Chicago a few times, not really interested in staying there.

Looked in Green Bay and looked in Appleton, no Marriotts available. Not sure if they are sold out or if they are holding rooms.

I stayed in Milwaukee a few years back. I liked it. Cool city. Lots of pubs.

Appleton is where the NFL teams stay that come in to play Green Bay. Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago are all good possibilities.

Madison is a nice city. The campus is actually integrated into a very vibrant downtown in terms of activities, restaurants and nightlife. It's pretty akin to Baton Rouge in terms of being a capital city with the state's flagship university.

Milwaukee is more of a big city feel than Madison and is about 30m closer to Green Bay. Flights are going to be much cheaper into Milwaukee as well as Madison is notoriously expensive to fly into.

While Chicago might say it's a 3h 30m drive to Green Bay, that is extremely dependent on time of day as traffic can be a bitch around Chicago. That's the only thing I would be hesitant about in terms of staying in Chicago. Flights into O'Hare are also going to be much cheaper than Madison and probably cheaper than Milwaukee.

have worked in both of those cities- Madison is more like BTR a big little town- not much to do

Milwaukee more like New Orleans

Green Bay is Shreveport

Appleton is Hammond

Flying in to Milwaukee Thursday morning, driving halfway up and playing Whistling Straits that afternoon, driving the rest of the way in and staying in downtown GB all three nights.

GREAT golf courses in Green Lake Wisconsin- see if you can play the Green Lake Conference center course (this used to belong to the Kraft family as in Kraft foods)

If I were going with a bunch of my buddies, I would think Madison would be where to stay. That city is a blast.

Otherwise, Chicago or Milwaukee would be where I stayed.

I don't know if you have kids or like theme parks, but staying in Kenosha or Gurnee and heading to Six Flags is a possibility I recommend. I'm a Chicago suburbs native, there's also Gurnee Mills nearby.
