Aiken has an arm issue. Drafted first overall by Astros. They lowball him after already offering $5m going as low as $3.1. This is important because Stros only get so much money to spend based on who they draft, can sign, and slot money. Aiken's slot was well above $7m. Which means any difference they save and can throw at other draft picks.
This affects Nix (UCLA commit) who has already agreed to 1.5m and Marshall who can now be offered as much as $3m if Aiken takes the lowball number. But if Aiken doesn't sign at all, the Stros lose that money to spend and likely couldn't sign Nix much less Marshall.

I would think that Nix's number would change if Aiken's changes... they have the same "agent". But you're right. They could technically go as high as $5 mill ($4.8 saved from Aiken alone)
