LSU's two most talented players "Sampson & Epps" combined for 9 pts.

Once again they both proved that talent doesn't make you a good & consistent player...Wish these 2 could perform close to their supposed ability, but they hardly ever have.

Waters is more talented than both.

They do need to play better but they did only play 19 and 16 minutes respectively. Playing Rieth and Epps together much was not an option because of Auburn's quickness advantage so Epps getting only 16 minutes was not surprising.
I think our best player only getting 4 points and mindless turnovers that led to easy run out baskets was more detrimental.
Games like this happen. Our 2000 Tiger Sweet 16 team lost by 25 in Gainesville.

That was a not-quite-choate sitcom from the '70s, whose production ended up on the cutting room floor.

And even though Waters has been in a funk the past few games, he's still engaged in the games. Whereas Sampson & Epps seem MIA most of the time.

And why is that? This was supposed to be a breakout year for both of them.

I understand that, but I'm talking about their play for the whole season so far.

Typically the guy Epps is guarding just wants a rebound more than he does. I guess the same can be said about most of our team though. Auburn getting 10 offensive rebounds in the 1st half was absurd.

Sampson does not have the explosiveness or confidence he had since the injury. Bottom line

According to who?

Even before the injury Sampson was never a consistent player who you could count on every game. I don't normally rag on players, but they've both been here long enough and they just don't produce.

This. He was as efficient as it gets the first few games. Outside of maybe one or 2 games after, he’s been basically just eating minutes

Then how can you say that they are LSUs 2 most talented players if they’ve been here for a while, don’t produce, and can’t count on them every game?
All you had to say was Sampson and Epps haven’t played well and we needed them to step up this year. They haven’t. Stop trying to make it more dramatic by calling them LSUs 2 most talented players. Because it’s just not true.

Reath is more talented than Epps too. Epps can spot shoot the 3. That's it. 6'11" and provides absolutely zero rim protection or rebounding.

Yeah, Reath has a great bank shot and hook shot and can work the interior as well as shoot pretty well from deep. He can't catch the ball, but offensively, he is more talented than Epps.

No disrespect to the guys but neither are very talented. Especially Epps who is just a stretch 5 who can only shoot 3s
Sampson is too inconsistent and he can not create his own shot

Were you drunk last night? Epps and sampson are far from the most talented on the team. They are actually the two most inconsistent players on the team.

No, OP is just a moron that's much better served sticking to IM threads on the OT

Who has said Epps is one of the most talented players? He was a low 3* that was known to be a 4 year player with a potential to redshirt. He's living up to his expectations.

Epps has been inconsistent and Sampson hasn't seen the same since the injury. I think it's fair to say that neither Epps nor Sampson got the coaching they needed in their prior years.
Wade had to piece together a roster from what he inherited. It's amazing that he has gotten this much from the five that were retained. They still play with more intensity than they did previously. The malaise under JJ is gone but it takes a lot to change the program's culture completely. Wade has done far more than I expected given the mess he walked into.

For Epps it's a matchup thing. Absolutely no way you can play Epps and Rieth together any significant length of time against Auburn as neither are quick enough to guard so both on the court together is suicide. Rieth has been hot lately he gets the minutes...simple.

Sampson was engaged and playing well before his injury, the downside of being out that long is you don't get to develop along with the team and that can be tough to overcome. I thought he had come around in the Georgia game, but he'll have to earn that and Wade is not going to reward him with more minutes until he does.
