Damien Lewis

This caught me off guard. Was expecting Traore to be the more dominant one off the bat. Good for Lewis though

Didn't me. It was obvious, to me, that Lewis was closer to being ready. It might be wishful thinking (ego massage), but I think I remember saying as much before either signed.

Remembering that Traore's position is tougher to learn, much tougher with the minutiae of the position.

Not saying Traore won't get there. Just not surprised we're talking about Lewis pushing to start in spring. If Cregg earns his money, we'll be talking about the same for Traore in early to mid fall.

To me the disappointing thing is both Traore and Deculus being limited, they both needed this spring and I was looking forward to them pushing each other. Saddiq needed more too, he's a natural and damn good, but for OT he needed refinement. They had identified his technique weaknesses late in the season. ND exploited them pretty well.

the fact that at least 2 of the trio of traore, lewis and deculous might... not start, is a sign of really good talent across the line.

You’re getting Cam Cameron’s playbook, just a different play caller.

if this is what we are going to trot out this year come the U game....both O and CSE should lined up and shot outside the admin building.

I like this observation. There is more to a football team than the QBs. The defensive line has been handling the offense so far this Spring but the positive is...it will hopefully make the O line better.

But I was told we got the struggles in last year with a young oline and this year would be different
And I've been telling you different.

New and hopefully improved OL Coach.

Same ole Sun Belt/SWAC level talent; none of whom would make the 1st or 2nd team OL at Alabama.

Nothing will change until this talent deficiency significantly improves.

I agree. I think the line might take some lumps early on, but it could be one of our best in recent memory. I guess it will really test our theory of "anyone can run we'll behind a good line." Because, unfortunately, we've got a whole bunch of blah at RB. hopefully Curry or CEH will be at least serviceable until the next gen arrives.

One of my biggest gripes about Grimes is he was "too slow". The progression as a squad and on an individual level took too long. It's CFB, you can't be figuring out positions and depth chart in week 4.

So the speed of improvement, before fall, is something I'm watching for with Cregg. It will require extra dedication, and offseason supervision, by Cregg to put in the work required to do that.
