I listened to a sports talk show on the Ticket in Ft. Walton Beach, FlORIDA and they did not have LSU with one of the five toughest schedules in the SEC. No respect for our Tigers!

The loss to Troy was inexcusable. Period. The others ok.

I’ve said all along I actually think the MSU loss was less excusable just because of the total beatdown we received.

In this thread alone there are at least three posts talking about Mullen and how good MSU was last year and how dangerous Florida is this year even though they were a 4-7 shite storm last year and have a QB situation far worse than ours.

Mullen is a good coach. I’d prefer him over the one we have because of his offensive background.

But to pretend like he is some elite guy is just dumb.

Mullen was 1-7 against LSU until last year’s absurd showing.

And they weren’t even a good team. They went 4-4 in the SEC including a 30 point stompings to Georgia and Auburn the two weeks after they pushed our shite in by 30.

They never got ranked higher than 16 and ended at 19 after they squeaked out a win over unranked Louisville in the Taxslayer Bowl but people write off our embarrassment to them because of Dan Mullen’s genius??

Why the frick didn’t we hire that guy then if he’s so amazing???

What with rampant offensive inexperience, a lack of depth in key positions, and a suspect head coach and OC, is there any realistic chance for a successful 2018? What does the board think

With all the immature kids on here, there is no reason to ask a mature question. It is like asking the question at a pre-school.

Preseason #13 according to Steele, which would be easiest since '08....except for the joke 2017 SOS of #37.

Exactly.

LSU has almost always played 2 or 3 top 10 teams and then had another 2 or 3 teams ranked 10-25 due to the SEC strength over the past decade.

We happen to have a top heavy three games against Alabama Auburn and Georgia. Miami is the only other mid ranked team and one of Florida MSU or A&M will probably sneak into the 20s just because there will be an urge to get another SEC team in at the end of a ballot.

That isn’t some murderers row and the only reason it feels so stacked is because we aren’t regarded as one of those top 10 type teams anymore like we used to be almost every year.

They won’t lose to another team like Troy. State was good as hell last year and they had Dan Mullen. The only game outside of Bama UGA or Auburn I can see them losing is A&M

This wildly optimistic post has us at 9-3 or 8-4. We really hit a home run with O right

Their are two exceptions to that. In 2009, Bama had a BYE WEEK ADVANTAGE coming into that game (The infamous Patrick Peterson INT game). And in 2012 LSU had the bye week advantage.

State was as good as h*ll last year

Yea, this State team was blown out 3-31 @ Georgia and 10-49 @ Auburn and lost to Bama and *gasp* Ole Miss. All the earmarks of a great football team, who finished 2 games behind the Tigers in SEC West.

Idc what their records were, those were good wins.

Doesn’t that pretty much cancel out the notion they were good wins??

Because he didn't have a binder. Never stood a chance.

O has only had one full year, he brought in a very solid class, and is working on a nice class this year. If he would "let his coaches coach" like he promised.. we might have a very good year

yes, no more or no less. and you are absolutely correct, he needs to let his coaches coach and manage by results (something miles forgot to do).

what is going to determine success or failure this year is our defense staying healthy (while the new guys get experience) and our OL giving Burrow time to do his job. being in the SEC west always produces brutal schedules and playing both florida and Georgia this year makes it even tougher. but this has happened before and we won the SEC.

They’ve had it circled since they joined the SEC and still haven’t beat us or even made the game interesting. A&M is a joke and always has been since they were in the big12. OU beat them 77-0 AT CS. Get outta here with that A&M nonsense.

Idk what you're talking about. The defense is stacked, like top 10 stacked.

I’m also of the opinion that Jimbo will bust at A&M. Having the most money doesn’t guarantee Ws. See University of Texas the past decade.

I expect he'll have some success there, but that program is still a long way from being an SEC elite

Nobody gave us a shot in the 2011 preseason either.

#3 Oregon at neutral site
@ top 15 West Virginia
@ Tennessee
@ #1 Alabama
@ Ole Miss

Not to mention home games with Florida, Auburn, and top 5 Ark.

That was a brutal schedule, yet we came out unscathed in the regular season. It started off with us blindsiding Oregon and the rest of the country right off the bat. We do that to Miami, and this season could start picking up some serious steam.
