It would be the equivalent of a 5th year walk-on being granted an extra year of eligibility. It matters for the kid whether he gets to continue his NCAA career. But doesn't change anything for the team.
But those are the kids that win you championships. And he knows that because he sat in the stands at Texas relays a few times.

It's pretty much clinched without him. He only competed in 1 event. Juvaughn Harrison and/or Terrance Laird getting injured is the only realistic path to losing it.
Williams would actually be a bigger loss points wise then Harrison. Both relays take huge hits without him, specially the 4x4.

LSU doesn’t win a title AGAIN THIS YEAR.
bullshite... LSU will win easy, even if they miss a couple events that they should place 1st or 2nd. Shaver has them in the greatest position any track team has ever been in going to the NCAA meet.
One model had them scoring 105 points which would be a record by a mile. Then, it was changed to 89 points.
To answer the question of an earlier poster, 50 points can win it if very competitive and spread out between a lot of teams, but 60-65 is more like it.
LSU will score min 75 points, max about 90, hopefully they break 100 but will have to be perfect for that. Let's see

Good explanation Dubaitiger.
Let’s hope all the stars align this year.
I miss all of those Pat Henry glory years!!
Yes, lets hope we finally get the win. We are so loaded so we should. Let's run hard and hold onto the baton

I guess I am just skeptical but I’m expecting us to come up just short as always. We always seem to have something happen like dropping the baton, tripping over a hurdle, etc. This coach is like DD and Torina...always close but usually not on top. Maybe this will be our year but I need to see to believe.

I don’t think y’all realize how big of an advantage LSU has going into this. Like no one else is even remotely close

I’ve not once changed the topic moron. I had a thread got whacked from positing what I just posted to you.
Keep defending Shaver.
LSU doesn’t win a title AGAIN THIS YEAR.
When that happens, my guess is you will be back in your hole.
All I need to see were the number of PRs from the women and men they had over the weekend.
Bookmarking this and will be back to throw it in your face at the appropriate time.
Idiocy like this needs to be called out and ridiculed.

What makes LSU such a heavy favorite in outdoor compared to the indoor team? Can you explain for those of us not track savvy enough to get it?

Seems pretty odd a person that isn’t track savvy enough to know the difference between indoor and outdoor would make the below statement:
“He’s not only an avg coach, he has not been good to former athletes and coaches. He’s driven by profiting off of former athletes that make it to the world level events instead of using those successes to elevate the program.”

I know Shaver and former athletes. I’m not a technician on how points are scored or predicted in outdoor vs indoor meets.

Multiple reasons.
Programs with better distance/mid distance programs seem to usually have a slight advantage in indoor where as in outdoors sprints/field events would probably have a bigger advantage. (This isn’t always the case and is my opinion could probably be argued either way)
Most importantly laird isn’t a 60m guy and they have the added bonus of Burrell in the 400 hurdles/other events that LSU is better adapt for. It’s just a different set of events and it’s tricky navigating coaching such a long season. You can only have guys at their best for so long without burning them out and risking injury.

If you look at the form charts posted earlier, it is pretty easy to see the events where the projected points are scored from. The points for each event are, 10 points for 1st 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd and so on.
The indoor meets does not have the 100 meters (rather a 60 meters), 400 meter hurdles or the 4x100 & 4x400 relays. LSU is projected to score 36 points in those events alone, and could score 40 if each is won.
The indoor meet has a long distance medley relay, which is not included in outdoor. That is an event that LSU did not score in but the indoor winning team totaled 10 point.
Just these events alone are a 40- 50 point swing in the LSU point total against the indoor champion.

Update: in Chart #4, Laird is not projected to win the 100 meters, but the indoor 60 meter champ is, so that reduces the winning point margin, if that were to hold.

This feels like 2011 when people say “and PP7 could have been on that defense” but Mondo also could have been on this team.
We would essentially have 6 events with Olympic level athletes.

You got dat right Pedro.
I actually saw the indoor at Arkansas, and watched North Carolina A & T win the 400x 4 relay, over UK.
LSU certainly has the capability of producing A-Game performances in key races ,and exceeding the point total in projection #4. Without sounding greedy it will be interesting to see if LSU sets the overall scoring record.
Keeping it in perspective, god forbid injuries and dropped batons, lets hope for the best.
Finishing 2nd to NC A & T in both the 100 and 400 relays would be no shame either.
