Les has done a good job with what happened after RP was let go and some of the OL commits didn't pan out.
Ya know for such a stumbling bumbling idiot, as some here and in the media have made him out to be, some coaches who have lost to him probably need to be put on a suicide watch.
ETA He's runs a clean program, a class act and wins.

quote:Why was it less quality because everyone beat each other (except for Bama and Florida, who beat everyone)? It's why we don't look at it on an individual level, we look at the overall performance over the whole of the conference schedule.
Well I posted the records of the teams we beat that year. Not one had a % over .500 the SEC is always competitive but you just can't say that and close the book. That was a poor year in terms of quality of wins compared to the other years you are lumping them with.
quote:You were specifically asking for a signature win as the "gotcha" argument. I explicitly reject the premise. I don't believe in signature wins or moral victories. I'm also not on here arguing that we "played Bama close". We lost. That's how it counts. End of story. You can argue until you're blue in the face, but you can't change that.
And I never said 1 signature win makes a season. Come on. I said all those other years had signature wins when this season had none. That doesn't make a season, but when you are talking quality, it's a factor.
LSU went 5-3 in the SEC (good for 3rd in the conference that year). The only way to devalue that is to argue that the SEC was a bad conference. Go ahead. Let's hear it.

Speaking of not understanding, the LSU SOS for 09 was ranked at #5 by Sagarin.

Over the last 6 years (2005, Miles 1st year through this year), here is LSU's final poll rank when compared to other SEC teams in the top 25 is (i.e. relative position within the SEC teams ranked):
LSU
2005: 1
2006: 2
2007: 1
2008: NR
2009: 3
2010: 2
Florida:
2005: 4
2006: 1
2007: 4
2008: 1
2009: 2
2010: NR
Alabama:
2005: 2
2006: NR
2007: NR
2008: 2
2009: 1
2010: 3
Auburn:
2005: 5
2006: 3
2007: NR
2008: NR
2009: 1
UGA:
2005: 3
2006: NR
2007: 2
2008: 3
2009: NR
2010: NR
No other teams in the SEC have been ranked in the final polls in more than 2 of the last 6 years.
In sum, in the last 6 years LSU has been outside of the top 3 teams in the SEC only one time, has been the highest ranked SEC team twice, the second highest ranked SEC team twice and the third highest ranked SEC once.
Only LSU and Florida have been ranked in the top 25 for five of the last 6 years. Only LSU and Florida have been the top ranked team in the SEC for more than one year out of the last 6 (each being the top ranked team twice over the last 6 years).
In last 2 years only LSU and Alabama have been in the top 25 both years. In the last 3 years, only Alabama, LSU and Florida have been in the top 25 in at least 2 years (Alabama has been in the top 25 for the last 3 years, LSU for the last 2).
So overall, using final poll ranks as an indicator of LSU's strength of relative position within the SEC over the last 6 years, and the last 3 years, LSU is doing pretty well, arguably no. 1 over the last 6 years and clearly no. 3 in the last 3 years.
Clearly, this is only one way of looking at LSU's relative position within the SEC, since the emphasis is solely on where the teams fall relative to one another in the polls, and doesn't look at championships as such. But in 4 of the last 6 years LSU has done no worse than being the 2nd best team in the SEC.

It's pretty amusing when you think bout it. Miles is 62-17 while playing in the best college football conference in the world, has a winning percentage among BCS schools that ranks LSU at #5 for the last 6 years, has double diget wins over NC HC's, and is 5-5 against God'S gift to coaching in the SEC, but some want to present him as 2nd rate.
Sometimes I think I must be on the set of "Saturday Nite Live" with Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, and Bill Murray. lol

I've never seen a coach get a 7 year extension for averaging almost 4 losses a year over a 3 year period. that's amazing.
we'll surely know next year at this time won't we.

If the team your tied with record wise beat you on the field, its not a tie.
We were 3rd in the west this year behind Auburn and Ar kansas.

You would reject it, because it is obvious we didn't have one, when we had 2-3 every other year of Miles' "good years" that you are comparing them too.
The same way you won't rank those years because you know I will prove my point.
I know your not a rantard, but you sure sound like one. "We won. Or we lost. Bottom line!". You are better than that. You refuse to budge on those notions because you know you have no argument, Baloo.
For someone that defines himself by numbers and ratios and theories in nearly every other argument you present on sports, you sure are going neanderthal in this instance. You are dumbing it down by just saying a win is a win and a loss is a loss, when you know its more than that.
The Curtis Martin theory? No thought's on that?
1000 yards at 5.2 is the same as 1000 yards at 3.8? Hey, its 1000 yards! Let's call them the same thing!!!!

Do you know that LSU averaged 3 L's a season in Nick's last 3 years which included has best season and Miles has averaged 3.6 L's in his last 3 seasons which included his worst season?
But of course you knew the 8-5 was the worst ever for Miles, huh.
You sly dogs. lol

And #8 in the nation and the highest ranked team in the SEC behind only #1 ranked Auburn.
Wasn't it sweet this season to be able to put both Florida and Bama on the "decline" with our wins over them and higher NR than them.
11-2, 8th in the nation, and 4 or 6 seasons in the Top 8 nationally.
Sweet, huh! lol

I see th 3rd in the SEC west can be achieved at 8-5 and also at 11-2.

Could you see Nick Saban doing that? Urban Meyer? Bob Stoops?
What an arse. None can claim supremacy ove Miles.

nick Saban calling for a punt deep in their territory is not equal. Miles has done the same thing, if we want to go there.
So what's keeping Saban from winning the SEC and NC every year?
