In a run defense drill, LSU safety Brandon Taylor came up in run support and delivered a huge pop on the running back. The hit caught the attention of the scouts in attendance, all of them were writing notes after that hit.

quote:

"I hadn't been able to get my hands on the ball all day, but I had an opportunity to make an open field tackle and put on a big hit," Taylor said. It was big alright. Taylor served notice that he wants to catch the eye of an NFL team.

Taylor says he is willing to do anything it takes. "Specials teams, cornerback, safety, anything they need… I will just sacrifice my body for the team and organization," he explained.

I'm glad to hear this. I really grew to like Brandon Taylor throughout this season. I think he will be a great representative going forward for LSU as he was while he was here.

At the very least, he should be a solid special teamer. I think he's going to run a lot faster than people expect too.

We'll miss his leadership in the secondary next year for sure

Definitely. Also his run support. IMO, he really covered up for some of our sub-par LB play this year.

Loston really needs to step up big time to even attempt to fill BT's shoes.

BT had a great season. He had a good one last year as well. He was more of a quiet player, that you don't notice until he is hurt for a game.
Glad to see him doing so well and some NFL team is going to get a steal in him. Hopefully it is the saints so we can put harper to pasture.

I haven't seen any mock drafts but I thought he'd surely be drafted in the 4th or 5th. Is he projected anywhere?

I think he is going to be a very solid NFL player for a long time. He really came on this year. He was the Kelvin Sheppard of this defense.

CBS had him a 7-UFA but their draft scouts fricking suck. I think he'll get drafted and probably about where you said.

The dude is king of open field tackling. Like a heat seeking missle.

I haven't seen any that cover the middle to late rounds, so I'm not sure. This is from the last sentence in the article.

quote:

Taylor is just the kind of guy teams are looking for in the middle rounds of the 2012 draft.

I've also seen in a couple other places that scouts aren't completely sold on his coverage skills, but mostly all recognize his ability to tackle and the power that he tackles with.

Sounds like all he really needs to do is show the ability to cover just enough, since he's a SS, and that will be good enough to get him somewhere between 5-7. That's JMO though.

That guy was a beast and was so underrated behind Claiborne and Matheiu.

My favorite player all year, probably our 3rd best player on defense, and did the #18 GREAT justice

He's AWESOME
