The fact that we are 3rd in hit batsman tells me we just aren't trying hard enough.

How do we strike so many dudes out, yet are so wildly out of control at the same time?

Leading in both K’s and Walks is insane

All the walks in last nights game are even more frustrating when you consider that Ricken went 4.1 without walking anyone. So it was 13 walks in 4.2 innings. We nearly walked one guy for every out we got with non-Ricken pitchers.

Should just do conference only stats to normalize things

This is conference stats from the SEC website. I don’t think there are any normalizing stats to be made. It’s terrible anyway you look at it.

We didn't strike out 600+ guys in the SEC this year.

Pretty insane stat

I know we werent exactly throwing our best last night but just shocking to see how bad guys like Lachenmayer, Williams, Rizy have become

Rizy had 23 free passes, 2 WP in 24.2 IP last year...not great, but...
He has 26 free passes, 8 WP in 21.1 IP this year; 9 XBH to just 2 last year

Williams had 16 free passes, 0 WP in 20.0 IP last year, again not great, but....He has 19 free passes, 3 WP in 17.0 IP this year; and is getting hit more

Lachenmayer I know was at NDSU, but 20 free passes, 4 WP in 38.0 IP last year, really not bad at all; 19 free passes, 6 WP in 16.2 IP this season; also has given up 6 XBH this season to just 3 last season....in less than half the innings this year

These guys are just getting worse across the board, Yeskie has done an awful job developing a ton of these guys. He took a guy who was NOT a control issue pitcher into absolutely being one now in Lachenmayer

I’m saying it’s from the SEC website. Not conference only stats. Either way, who gives a shite. You can’t normalize stats when you lose a series to Sacramento State.

It's very clearly overall stats from the entire season, not just conference play

Not trying to make anything look better/worse, just trying to get a normalized schedule as much as possible between all teams to compare

You can easily flick on conference only stats on the SEC website

Well go find SEC ONLY stats somewhere and post them. I never said these were conference only stats. I said these were conference stats from the SEC website.

our guys have elite stuff but have no command, and they're also mental midgets on the mound. I'm convinced their struggles are as much psychological as they are mechanical.

so you are saying, we LEAD THE SEC in all the pitching categories???

and people want to say our pitching is BAD!

I kid... it's terrible.

in SEC play we're:
4th in Ks
1st in BBs
7th in HBPs
1st in WPs
14th in ERA
16th in WHIP

That's one of the things that impressed me about Ricken last night. He didn't get a check swing call he thought he should, and still got the strike out on the next pitch. There were other instances of adversity that he bounced back from but that was the most prominent one to me.

I'm about to start a thread with the breakdown of walks/IP for all pitchers vs their same walks/IP for the previous season they pitched. Obviously, its not good.
