Yes which means you must have 7 on the line.

The call by the referee was obviously that the catch was made because he ruled him oob, which is incompetence fully on display by an SEC official. So if the catch is made before crossing the end line then when the runner with the ball crosses the goal line, it is a TD. The ultimate call was incorrect.

Wrong. What if you have 10 on the field? You're still legal. You said the rule states 7 on the line. It clearly does not. So much for admitting your error.

Why would I admit I'm wrong when I'm not? No matter what you have to have 7 on the line. I literally just read the rule.

Just got explanation from an NCAA referee. About 5 years ago both NCAA and NFHS changed the rule to say only you can’t have more than 4 off the ball. You do not need 7 on the line. Example, you only have 10 on the field because a TE ( who would be on the line) forgets to come out, and you have 5 lineman and a SE on the line, and the qb, rb, slot, and a fb off the ball; you still have a legal formation with fewer than 7 on the los. And you could legally put 10 on the los as well.

Ok. Everything I read says you need at least 7. If they changed the rule it's not coming up when I search. I stand corrected.

What's your opinion on the overturned touchdown? I thought he had possession and made a football move, so it should have been a touchdown.

I apologize bro on the dense comment. If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

I thought the same thing, and that’s what the rule used to state, they simply removed any reference to 7 on and simply require no more than 4 off now.

blatant cheating

I understand the emotion because it truly was a stupefyingly bad call but y’all lose me with the conspiracy stuff. If these games are fixed they’re doing a terrible job of fixing them. Refs just suck at their jobs. Period. They’re some of the most bumbling professional fools that exist to do anything.

Yall need to get a grip.

They were bad calls. Bad calls happen.

Why do yall live like this? You can literally do nothing about it. There's no way I'd watch something that made me, a grown man, this angry.

I’m 57 years old, so I’m calling that a catch and a touchdown all day long. But with the rules these days I’m completely clueless. I guess they said he didn’t control the ball and complete the catch?

Yeah I think it changes from crew to crew. Nobody knows what a catch is anymore. Nice chatting with you.

So regardless of any doublespeak yada yada about what constitutes a catch- just look at this clip and then have any official explain how the ref right on top of the play, on the goal line, ran over and spotted him out-of-bounds on the 1yd line?

Just explain that part, with a straight face.

thinking the refs are cheating is utterly ridiculous. Were there some questionable calls? Sure, but that happens every game, to both teams. You’re an LSU fan so you see what you want to see. Go back and watch the game from Clemson’s perspective and you’d see a bunch of calls/no calls that went against them too.

Here is what a lot of you are missing- Officials on the field make mistakes, sometime egregious (see no grounding). But, it is blatant, biased cheating when you OVERTURN a call on the field like they did the TD with replay. It's like "Birmingham" takes the stance that they have to prove LSU did not make a good play, not disprove the call on the field with indisputable video evidence. They did not have that here and just said frick it, we say it's not a catch.

How many times do we get royally fricked by the replay officials in Bama's backyard?

A football move is a juke, cut etc. Just continuing your path and falling to the ground is not a football move.

I'll go with what the official in the booth and others have said since the game. They blew the call! It was a touchdown! I'm just glad we didn't need it.

I havent read the rule book either but I did see, late in the 4th quarter, our O Line getting pressure on the qb when we were tackled from behind and brought down by a pair of defenders.... I didnt think u could do that on the line.
