Not if the receiver established possession and makes a football move, which he did. When he hit the pylon it was a touchdown.

After his past opening game experiences, not taking the 3pts blew me away.

We definitely have some morons in here as far as rules are concerned. Some don't even know you need 7 players on the line of scrimmage.

I agree. Especially with so little time remaining. Even if we get the first we would have to kick it.

The irony here. Which rule, specifically states that nugget?

Genuine question, why would SEC refs try to cheat LSU out of winning an out of conference game? Who would give them the directive to do that?

People here do not understand that the money bet on CFB precludes that it is a fair contest. This has been evident for many years, but most fans have the emotional and intellectual IQs of about 10-12 years old. They think emotionally. Last night's game was awful, but is a portent of what probably awaits LSU in all of its big games this year, especially against the Gumps.

Illegal formation

The NCAA and NFL rulebooks state that the offensive line must have seven players and an eligible receiver on both sides of the line of scrimmage. To prevent an illegal formation, each player between receivers must be an ineligible receiver.

Each offensive player and eligible receiver has to be in bounds. If the offensive linemen or any offensive players break these rules, it is considered an illegal formation and a five-yard penalty.

On offense you need to have 7 players on the line of scrimmage before the snap. Look it up.

Thanks for fully breaking it down. I don't have the patience. I figured most people that watch football knew that.

He had made a football move and was therefore a runner. LSU got so jobbed, but yeah, bring out the rule book and misapply it.

There's no need arguing with you. Others in the chat broke it down as well.

Are you doing a bit right now?

ETA: you have to have at least 7 guys on the LOS. You can have more, but it’s to your disadvantage because only the guys at the very end are eligible receivers.

But you can have more than 7, 10 on the los is legal, but now you have only 2 eligible receivers.

You're conflating the two rule books. There is nowhere in the ncaa book that requires 7 on the line. There used to be, bit they changed it for a reason. Look it up.
