They shut out every team they played, 8-0, 19-0, 5-0, 7-0, and 8-0. The teams they played weren’t the best but you have to think going 5-0 with 5 shutouts is pretty good, no matter who you are playing, and it says a lot about this years pitching staff. Each game had a different starting pitcher that went the distance. If this team can roll out 5 pitchers that can give you those types of results, they may win a lot of games.

The defense was also excellent this weekend. Defense and pitching will win you a lot of games.

The only thing I see missing from this years team is the true HR threat that Clark brought.

They hit the ball well. Taking it with a grain of salt, but hopeful they are much improved.

That’s pretty damn impressive to shut out 5 teams to start the season

Taking it with a grain of salt is valid. They didn’t play anyone. However shutting those teams out is impressive.

Next week they run into OSU and Washington…things get real. We will learn much more about this team next week.

Having Lynch and Carson will improve this team.

This season will be all about Berzon and Lynch in the circle.

Power wise, this team still lacks consistent Hr threats come SEC play but this is what Torina recruits.

After watching Corine Poncho play for Mcneese last year and her start this year with 3 HR’s already, She is the main Notre Dame High school player that Torina should have recruited to play for LSU.

They have HR threats, all left handed and the wind much of the time blows straight in from RF…need right hand hitters with pop

I am excited to see the different approach at the plate. I did not see the slap hitting approach that I absolutely hate. Hopefully this trend continues.

They did it some this weekend, mainly from Briggs and Coffey.

I watch all five games,we will have a little above average team, we just don’t have any game changing player. We will score very few runs against good pitchers

This is a veteran team so perhaps we can climb the hill we have not climbed the last few seasons and make some real noise in the postseason.

Impressive weekend. But of course Beth has never had much problem beating up on cupcakes. You are correct. SEC play and how we respond to good SEC pitching will tell the tale.

And I suppose the idiot is scanning the schedule looking for the nationally televised games to make an appearance.

Great start regardless of who they played. If it was HS it still was great

Don’t really follow softball except maybe check the scores. Watch some games at the end of the season. I know parity isn’t the same in women’s sports, but 5 consecutive shutouts is pretty damn good.

You base that on what? Do they have a Skyler Wallace? Nope but many very good hitters that combined can be very difficult to pitch to

Don’t come on and say they didn’t hit Meylan because OU didn’t either with 7ks in 5 innings…2 or 3 runs against Meylan would be a great day!
