Louisiana Tech was doing this under Leon Barmore back in the 90's when Mulkey was still on staff there.

Practicing against men has been around for as long as women's basketball has been around.

I was on the practice squad for the Lady Techsters back in 91-92. Kim was the associate head coach. I promise you she didn’t steal that from Staley.

I practiced against the girls team when I was on JV in highschool a long time ago. This has been a thing forever.

Certainly nothing new here. Only pretend fans don’t know WBB practices against men.

When I was on the JV basketball team in school we would sometimes scrimmage the varsity girls. We smoked them every time. I think they made us use the girl's ball too.

Yeah LSU was doing this under Fargas as well

Was done under Van Chancellor as well and I assume Gunter before that.

I was on that practice squad for several years. Was a lot of fun.

Our varsity boys would scrimmage the varsity girls and it was nasty. Boys would quadruple the girls score and we had rules.

Boys coach would require 5 passes before shooting and outlawed dunking and jumping to block shots (had 2 guys that could slam it pretty good for high school).

I'm pretty sure this is standard in women's basketball. They do it in the WNBA.

Even worse, they have to have men practice squads in the WNBA because the league thought allowing women on the practice squad would let teams stash/stockpile too much talent and ruin the parity of the sport. (Not a joke).

Very common and long time practice for many women's college programs - goes back decades.

Everyone does this. Louisiana Tech compiles the better intramural mens players and has them scrimmage and run drills.

The intramural guys win every time

Let’s be clear….Sue Gunter and most coaches understood the value, it is not a creative-invention of MZ Staley!!!
