re: LSU went with O

The only reason is we are implementing a new offense and we are very inexperience.
He's also still building what he wants, it's not established just yet. I'll give him a season to get things right if they can't get it this season. I think that's fair, but I would give any coach the same time frame not just O.

I think he's going to kill it, but why are we lowering our expectations?
I think a lot of people still aren't sold on Etling, even with Canada. We also had a lot of attrition on defense, and that is causing more cautious predictions.

It amazes me how quick some of you so called fans want to see someone fail just because you couldn't get a coach that was never going to leave Florida State in the first place.
I agree with you 100%, and I'll take it a step further. Considering LSU was NOT going to get Jumbo, and Hermann was trying to get Saban type money (which he may, or may not be worth), what coach do all these geniuses on the Rant would have picked over Orgeron?
What coach do they all think would have came to LSU, and won big very quickly?
Can't wait to see the all the fortune tellers come out on this.

I don't think it's fair to totally dismiss what he did for USC and LSU either. However, being an interim is still different than being the showrunner of a program.
I realize Ole Miss was a decade ago, but it's the only sample size we have of him actually being the man in charge, so I disagree with the handful of posters who claim it's irrelevant. At the same time, I disagree with the handful of posters who expect him to be a failure because of it, too.

Now don't get me wrong if 9-3 does happen I'll be shattering with everyone else that this may have been a mistake. My confidence in him will be shaken for sure.
I think LSU is the 2nd best all around team in the SEC slightly below Bama as far as total roster, but the areas we are weak in are key areas. QB and OT are our main short comings at the moment. That's pretty big for any team to overcome so I want to see if O can fix those 2 areas while keeping the front seven top notch. If coach O can fix those (2) areas while keeping the front seven dominant I think he will be successful.

I just can't really picture us losing before Florida and by then we'll have five games under our belt to hopefully have ironed out the kinks.
But I guess I disagree with the thinking that Orgeron gets the same leeway as an outsider would. If this was Fedora coming in, then yeah, I'd have much lower expectations in year one. But for Orgeron, I'm expecting the same results I would have expected from Miles. Maybe that's not fair, but that's how I feel.
And again, I'm a huge Orgeron supporter. I really liked what I saw from the team under him last year.

I'm higher on Etling than you are, I guess. I thought he was very effective, even throwing deep, when he was able to get the ball out on time. He struggled when he had to hurry his throw or he was late getting the ball out. I'm hopeful that Canada's offense creates more situations where he can make quick reads and get the ball out on time.

No doubt, I saw huge improvements to a dead offensive system. That impressed the hell out of me. I also saw more fight in that team in the second half then in the first half. They looked like they were having fun all week and the confidence rose immediately.
I don't think LSU will get beat badly by anyone if we happen to lose. I think LSU will still look good in their loses. Not the dead teams we saw under Miles for 3 quarters then lose it at the last second or win at the last second. I think we might see a few battles that we may end up on the wrong end though. Some games where there is just nothing that goes right for you and if you don't have the right leadership, you can't overcome them.
Idk we'll find out soon but I'm pumped about what Canada will bring along with Aranda holding teams down. Bama, Aub, and Tenn will be our toughest games IMO. Tenn because of where it's at in the schedule then it's a huge away game. Aub offense will be good but it's at home and idk if their defense will be all that good so we'll see. It could be a great year but you just never freakn know.

It's certainly not unreasonable. Just because things stagnated under Les doesn't mean O's expectations should be lowered.
One of O's big selling points was that he would keep the recruiting class and much of the staff together. It's not like he has a major rebuilding job like other new hires either. An outsider would likely need to take a step back before taking steps forward.

Tenn
Well maybe I'm overly confident, but I attended the last game we played in Neyland stadium and that was certainly not a very intimidating environment.
It's beautiful in Tennessee in November. Average high in Knoxville is 70, average low is 50, so temperature definitely shouldn't be a factor. It's not like it's Green Bay in January.

Nah I'm not down on Etling but you can't say he's going to win a game for you either. That's really all I meant. I think Canada is the perfect OC for Etling where he will let Etlings strengths shine. I have a great feeling about this year but I've also had those before lol. It's football man, you have another team on the other side that wants it just as bad as you. The big difference I see this year is in our staff though. I think they are all attention to detail type coaches that will teach the little things to make huge improvements.
Idk if you listened to the lastest Canada interview on LSUsports.net but he seems confident that they are going to put on a show this year. If you haven't listened to it you should, it's a great insight.

Technically 9-3 would be an improvement

F BOBBY JINDAHL, F KING, ALLEVA, AND THOSE ESPN PUNDITS for prolonging the inevitable. we had jimbo. we kept miles on life support when he was already "brain dead". we knew the plug would be pulled sooner than later. 4 qtrs. into 2016 and he shite down his leg. biggest debacle since blowing off spurrier in 87.
Could've had Spurrier or Shanahan in 87. Nope, lets hire Mike Archer.

I really hope O works out, because I don't want Alleva hiring another coach.

What about last year when we had an offense based on running between the tackles with an injured running back.
