This season is more like the 2011 season........unproven defensive players with tremendous upside but with a better offense.....

The schedules are also comparable in terms of difficulty......

All of this. All you people saying 8-4 and 9-3, etc. will be sucking Miles dick off on this same message board. You people are borderline retarded.

They also had a loaded Defense and Ron Cooper one of the best DB coaches in all of football.

The truth is unless Cam Cameron can create an offense that isn't predictable and attacks opponents weaknesses (something we hadn't done since Crowton's 1st year and Jimbo Fisher reign) then LSU will be in trouble this year.

That is the most moronic thing I have ever heard, even if for some crazy reason the offense has zero improvement over last year, LSU will win 10 games on talent alone.

Don't sleep on Rasco and Hunter. They might actually be more athletic than sonic sam and mingo. We play a&m towards the end of the season with a week off before, chavis will have them ready for that game.

80% chance we lose 2 games in the regular season this year.

Nobody knew going into the season that brockers would blowup like he did. He barely played in '10. Logan wasn't even in the conversation for the starting DT spot till august. Sonic Sam was coming off major knee surgery.

Baker and a converted safety were the returning LBs.

Dbs had a couple of veterans in Mo and Taylor the rest were a bunch of second year players. Talented no doubt but, young.

Secondary returns a boat load of talent. LBs are probally the best group at LSU in a long time. Talented and deep.

Tigers starting DL is as good as any in the SEC. Freak and Ego might be the best set of DTs in the SEC. Solid foundation to build on. Biggest need is depth along D-line.

What the '11 defense has over '13 is just a few more experienced players returning.

I don't think anyone is as fast and athletic as Mingo. He's in a different class.

Sure we have talent, but so do a lot of the teams we play this year. Bama, UGA, Florida, A&M. Arkansas will be better (and they usually play us very tight), Ole Miss and Auburn should be much better.

Winning 10 games means we split evenly with the following four very good teams: Bama, UGA (both on the road) and Florida and A&M. Then we have to win out against the rest of our schedule, which.

Can we do it? Yes. But that's not going to happen with no improvement in the offense. And our defense has a lot to replace.

Please, no more blind homerism. You need to look with clear eyes at the upcoming year. Let's hope for the best, but it's going to be a challenge to win 10 games.

I would not be shocked at an undefeated season.
Georgia is vulnerable to the run. Johnny Football in TS will fall. Auburn is not good enough and Florida is coming to Death Valley. That leaves Bama and Arky and I say that is a split. Ole Miss is not there yet. One loss team in the "4 team tournament and anything can happen." In the words of Bill Parcells, "just get to the tournament." (and Bobby Knight)

Stop clicking the threads then.

This is LSU rant, there arent separate boards. Besides the players report this week you dumbasses.

Dont think the rankings matter too much, in 11 we were still stomping teams at #1. The fresh faces will have this team hungry again. We are still good enough to beat every one on the schedule. But the oline has to stay healthy.

Blind homerism?

Winning 10 games means we lose 3, If you honestly think we lose to auburn and arkansas, that means you have no faith at ALL in this team. Could we by some freak notion lose one of those? sure it is possible.

But let me remind you the record under Les Miles:
2005 11-2
2006 11-2
2007 12-2
2008 8-5
2009 9-4
2010 11-2
2011 13-1
2012 10-3
Overall: 85-21 Average of 10.6W-2.6L per year
Only twice has Les Miles failed to win 10 games, and those years were the shite show after Perilloux got kicked of the team.

Those are the facts. LSU came within a few plays of an undefeated season and a chance to play for the SEC Championship and National Title last year.

To expect them to challenge for the same this year is realism and confidence in the coaching staff and the talent we have. If I was being a homer I'd say we are going to have an undefeated NC season and beat everyone by 3 TDs.

All of this. In fact most people were saying the defense was overhyped going into the year because we lost our best overall player/secondary player PP7, best linebacker Kelvin Sheppard, best d lineman-Drake Nevis. People knew Mo and Tyrann would be good, but most didnt even want Brandon Taylor starting (funny how hindsight is 20/20). Baker was a known commodity. Reid had shown flashes. Sam was an unknown due to major knee surgery. Mingo was still an underweight unproven end.

Going into this year when you add up what Lamin, Loston, Mills, Freak, Ego, Rasco, Collins have all done vs legitimate SEC competition with the added bonus of guys like Kwon, Debo, Martin, Eugene, Thompson also having experience we are no less experienced than what we had going into 2011.

Exactly. Don't think we will match what the '11 "D" did.

Should be better than the '12 defense, in the back seven especially.

If the "O" shows any improvement at all 10-2 should be the floor.
